Meta AnalysisMeta-Analysis of the Diagnostic Efficacy of the Luminex xTAG Respiratory Viral Panel FAST v2 Assay for Respiratory Viral Infections.
Acute respiratory viral infections pose significant morbidity and mortality, making it essential to diagnose respiratory viral infections rapidly. In this study, the diagnostic efficacy of the Luminex xTAG Respiratory Virus Panel (RVP) FAST v2 test was evaluated on respiratory viral infections. ⋯ The Luminex xTAG RVP FAST v2 test could be a reliable and rapid diagnostic method for multiple respiratory viral infections.

ReviewDigital Biomarkers in Living Labs for Vulnerable and Susceptible Individuals: An Integrative Literature Review.
The study aimed to identify which digital biomarkers are collected and which specific devices are used according to vulnerable and susceptible individual characteristics in a living-lab setting. ⋯ As the digital biomarkers and devices that collect them vary depending on the characteristics of study subjects, researchers should pay attention not only to the purpose of the study but also the characteristics of study subjects when collecting and analyzing digital biomarkers from living labs.

ReviewPhysician Knowledge Base: Clinical Decision Support Systems.
With the introduction of electronic medical records (EMRs), it has become possible to accumulate massive amounts of qualitative medical data. As such, EMRs have become increasingly used in clinical decision support systems (CDSSs). While CDSSs aim to reduce medical errors normally occurring in the process of treating patients by physicians, technical maturity and the completeness of CDSSs do not meet standards for medical use yet. ⋯ In current practice, computational systems already perform a wide variety of functions in medical settings to allow medical staff to focus on other tasks. However, no prior research has evaluated the potential effectiveness of future CDSSs nor analyzed possibilities for their further development. In this article, we evaluate CDSS technology with the consideration that medical staff also understand the core functions of such systems.

Asthma is chronic eosinophilic bronchitis with the dominancy of T helper 2 (Th2) inflammation. However, patients with asthma and metabolic dysfunction have pathogenic and pathological differences from those with Th2 inflammation. Metabolic dysfunction, typically presented as metabolic syndrome, has several important clinical components including central obesity, insulin resistance or glucose intolerance, dyslipidemia, and vitamin D deficiency. ⋯ Additionally, vitamin D deficiency and insulin resistance have been regarded as aggravating factors of asthma control and airway remodeling. Recent clinical and in vivo studies have revealed the specific mechanisms of these components, which may aggravate asthma control and airway remodeling. In this review article, I summarize the recent studies and unmet needs for patients with asthma and metabolic dysfunction.

ReviewScoping Review of the Literature on Smart Healthcare for Older Adults.
Smart healthcare systems are being designed to provide medical services to and improve the daily lives of older adults. However, most research has been focused on technical issues, despite a need to conduct in-depth studies on related ethical issues. Therefore, this study aimed to examine ethical issues in smart healthcare for older adults. ⋯ The digital divide is a challenge because of low responsiveness from older adults to technological changes. The future development and application of smart healthcare systems must take these ethical aspects into account to enable their efficient and effective use in supplementing healthcare for older adults. Critical discussions to identify ethical issues and customize ethical requirements for specific user needs are necessary among smart healthcare providers.
