Multicenter StudyPrenatal Diagnosis of Congenital Heart Diseases and Associations with Serum Biomarkers of Aneuploidy: A Multicenter Prospective Cohort Study.
We assessed prenatal detection rates of congenital heart disease (CHD) and associations between maternal serum biomarkers and non-chromosomal CHD in singleton pregnancies. ⋯ Ultrasonography performed during the second trimester by obstetricians detected over 85% of critical CHDs. Low maternal serum PAPP-A or high inhibin-A was associated with non-chromosomal CHDs. These results may contribute to an improvement in prenatal diagnosis of CHDs.

Meta AnalysisCephalomedullary Nailing versus Dynamic Hip Screw Fixation in Basicervical Femoral Neck Fracture: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Although many studies have reported the use of dynamic hip screws (DHS) and cephalomedullary nailing (CMN) for basicervical femoral neck fracture (BFNF), no clear treatment protocols have been recommended. The present study aimed to compare the surgical outcomes associated with DHS and CMN to determine the appropriate fixation method for BFNF. ⋯ Stable fixation using DHS and CMN does not show a significant clinical or radiographical difference in BFNF, and the implant can be selected based on the surgeon's preference.

The Protein-Protein Interaction Network of Hereditary Parkinsonism Genes Is a Hierarchical Scale-Free Network.
Hereditary parkinsonism genes consist of causative genes of familial Parkinson's disease (PD) with a locus symbol prefix (PARK genes) and hereditary atypical parkinsonian disorders that present atypical features and limited responsiveness to levodopa (non-PARK genes). Although studies have shown that hereditary parkinsonism genes are related to idiopathic PD at the phenotypic, gene expression, and genomic levels, no study has systematically investigated connectivity among the proteins encoded by these genes at the protein-protein interaction (PPI) level. ⋯ Both PARK and non-PARK genes show high connectivity at the PPI and biological functional levels.

A Retrospective National Study on Colonization Rate and Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Streptococcus agalactiae in Pregnant Korean Women, 2018-2020.
The prevalence of Group B Streptococcus (GBS) colonization in pregnant Korean women is increasing; however, nationwide studies are lacking. Therefore, we aimed to analyze regional colonization rates and antimicrobial susceptibility for GBS in pregnant Korean women through a nationwide survey. ⋯ In pregnant Korean women, GBS colonization rates were in the range of 9.6%-13.2%, with Gyeongsang-do being the lowest and Jeolla-do the highest. The resistance rate against clindamycin was high (33.4%-35.7%). GBS colonization rates during pregnancy should be studied nationwide according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-recommended guidelines with periodic antimicrobial resistance monitoring.

Impact of Enforcement of the Act to Improve Training Conditions and the Status of Medical Residents in Emergency Abdominal Surgery.
In 2018, the Act to Improve Training Conditions and the Status of Medical Residents (AITR) was fully implemented in South Korea. This study aimed to investigate the effects of AITR implementation on the clinical outcomes of patients who underwent emergency abdominal surgery. ⋯ The time from ER arrival to emergency surgery did not increase significantly after AITR implementation, and there was no difference in the patients' clinical outcomes.
