Comparative Study[Clinical picture and treatment of tuberculosis in HIV-infected patients].
In the Orenburg Region, HIV-infected individuals fall ill with tuberculosis tens time more frequently than uninfected ones. Thirty five HIV-infected patients with tuberculosis and 32 patients without immunodeficiency (a control group) were examined and treated. ⋯ Multidrug resistance was ascertained in 20% of cases. The efficiency of treatment in patients with double HIV/tuberculosis infection was 10-15% lower than that in those without HIV infection.

[The role of specialized sanatoria in the prevention of tuberculosis in children].
The paper presents the results of comparison of the rates of tuberculosis morbidity in children as a whole, in the foci of tuberculosis, in follow-up Group VI and the frequency of using sanatory care for preventive purposes in Russia in 1999. A role of available sanatoria in preventing tuberculosis is found to be in sufficient. By using the best areas as an example, the volume of required work with children at risk for tuberculosis and the rational use of sanatory care are substantiated.

Comparative Study[Approaches to combined therapy of pulmonary tuberculosis in adolescents excreting drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis].
The data are presented on 138 adolescents with active, advanced tuberculosis. M. tuberculosis were detected in the sputum and bronchial lavage of 75(54.3%) adolescents. 32 patients had M. tuberculosis resistant to drugs. 28 untreated patients demonstrated primary drug resistance (37.5%). Intensive combined treatment with consideration of bacterial resistance, administration of reserve drugs, wide spectrum medicines bring about positive results, but in patients with drug resistance positive dynamics is slow.

[Questionnaire survey of patients with tuberculosis: bioethical aspects].
An anonymous questionnaire was filled by 129 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis to study bioethical aspects. It contained questions concerning a patient's attitude to obtaining full information on his/her disease, treatments, and physician-patient relations, keeping his/her disease confidential from the relatives, controlled and obligatory treatments.
