Acceptance and Compliance of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure in Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea: Local Population Survey.
Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) compliance of > 4 hours per night has been considered acceptable to achieve clinical improvements in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). However, the factors determining CPAP adherence are unclear. This study aims to address the issue of acceptance and adherence to CPAP treatment in the Omani population and to determine the factors affecting adherence to CPAP. ⋯ CPAP users and compilers have severe OSA. CPAP acceptance and adherence are suboptimal and could not be predicted by age, gender, AHI, ESS, or comorbidities.

ReviewScreening Questionnaires for Obstructive Sleep Apnea: An Updated Systematic Review.
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the most common sleep-related breathing disorder and is associated with significant morbidity. We sought to present an updated systematic review of the literature on the accuracy of screening questionnaires for OSA against polysomnography (PSG) as the reference test. Using the main databases (including Medline, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews and Scopus) we used a combination of relevant keywords to filter studies published between January 2010 and April 2017. ⋯ However, SQ had the highest sensitivity in predicting moderate OSA (AHI ≥ 15 events/hour; range = 41.3% to 100%). SQ and SBQ are reliable tools for screening OSA among sleep clinic patients. Although further validation studies on the screening abilities of these questionnaires on general populations are required.

Patterns and Complications of Ingested Foreign Bodies in Omani Children.
We sought to describe the frequency of encounters and complications of foreign body (FB) ingestion in children seen at Royal Hospital, Oman. ⋯ FB ingestion is common in toddlers in Oman. Coins and disc batteries are most commonly ingested calling for strict family vigilance. Endoscopy is done in a small number of children and clinically significant complications, in general, are low. However, these findings should not lead to a false sense of security, and ingested FBs should always be taken seriously.

Injuries, Violence, and Bullying Among Middle School Students in Oman.
Injuries account for a substantial proportion of the burden of disease in adolescents globally. This paper describes injury rates and associated exposures, and risk behaviors in Oman's 2010 Global School-based Student Health Survey (GSHS). ⋯ Promoting healthier peer relationships may help to reduce injuries in this age group as well as reducing the harmful effects of bullying.
