[An analysis of cost and profit of a nursing unit using performance-based costing: case of a general surgical ward in a general hospital].
The aim of this study was to analyze net income of a surgical nursing ward in a general hospital. ⋯ We suggest that to develop a more refined nursing cost calculation model, a standard nursing cost calculation system needs to be developed.

This study was to investigate the reference accuracy in major nursing journals in Korea. ⋯ This study identified a considerable error rate in the references of nursing journals. Inaccuracy of references is a reflection on scholarly work of authors and journals. Authors and Editorial committees are responsible for the accuracy of references.

Comparative Study Controlled Clinical Trial[A comparison of the effects of intravenous fluid warming and skin surface warming on peri-operative body temperature and acid base balance of elderly patients with abdominal surgery].
The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of intravenous fluid warming and skin surface warming on peri-operative body temperature and acid base balance of abdominal surgical patients under general anesthesia. ⋯ We conclude that skin surface warming is more effective in preventing hypothermia, and HCO(3)(-) and base excess during general anesthesia, and returning to normal body temperature after surgery than intravenous fluid warming; however, skin surface warming wasn't able to sustain a normal body temperature in elderly patients undergoing abdominal surgery under general anesthesia.

The purpose of this study was to describe the essence of the experiences of patients in an ICU, and to understand them from the patients' point of view. ⋯ The ICU patients had negative experiences in physical.mental critical situations, but also positive experiences in consolation and nurses and families' encouragement. Therefore, ICU nurses must support patients and their families to minimize the negative experiences and maximize the positive experiences.

This study investigated job stress and coping of ICU Nurses. ⋯ The extent of the job stress of ICU nurses was relatively high, and they received the heaviest stress from job circumstances. For the prevention of job stress, every effort is required to analyze the causes of stress caused by job circumstances and to pose an appropriate solution. Meanwhile, job stress, needs to be controlled using a solution for the central problem, and search for social support.
