The Role of Esophagogastric Anastomotic Technique in DecreasingBenign Stricture Formation in the Surgery of Esophageal Carcinoma.
Postoperative stenosis and dysphagia after esophageal carcinoma resection is the major problem. The aim of this study is to compare two types cervical esophagogastric anastomosis in reduction of stricture formation in esophageal cancer surgery. ⋯ The oblique hand-sewn esophagogastric anastomostic techniques reduce markedly the rate of stricture formation after esophagectomy.

Prevalence and risk factors of postoperative delirium in patients undergoing open heart surgery in northwest of iran.
Delirium as a relatively common complication following cardiac surgery remains a contributory factor in postoperative mortality and an obstacle to early discharge of patients. ⋯ Based on this and other investigations, it can be suggested to use MMPI test to recognize pathologic elements to prevented delirium after surgery and complementary treatment for coping with delirium.

Arterial lactate level changes in first day after cardiac operation.
Lactate level is an important index for predicting cardiac events. There are some debates about time and type of sampling for defining of its prognostic values. ⋯ Persistent high level (>4 mmol/L) will occur unusually at 24(th) hour but can be associated with poor prognosis. Serial measurement of serum lactate level can be helpful for our management quality and very highly persistent arterial lactate level (>4 mmol/lit) up to 24 hours after operation will increase mortality rate in operated patients for congenital heart disease.
