Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Item-level psychometric properties for a new patient-reported psoriasis symptom diary.
This research evaluated the psychometric properties of a new Psoriasis Symptom Diary, identified diary responder definitions for use in determining whether a patient has experienced clinically meaningful change, and refined diary item content for use in future clinical trials. ⋯ The 16-item Psoriasis Symptom Diary demonstrated favorable psychometric properties and is a brief, useful tool for measuring patient-based symptoms and the impact of chronic plaque psoriasis.

Unidimensional 12-item Zarit Caregiver Burden Interview for the assessment of dementia caregivers' burden obtained by item response theory.
To develop a one-dimensional version of the 22-item Zarit Caregiver Burden Interview (ZBI) by applying item response theory approaches. ⋯ The reduced 12-item ZBI fits a one-dimensional latent variable of burden. Further psychometric studies, focusing on its equivalence for different populations, sensitivity to change, and minimal important difference are warranted.

Cost-effectiveness of adjuvant FOLFOX therapy for stage III colon cancer in Japan based on the MOSAIC trial.
To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of adjuvant FOLFOX therapy versus 5-fluorouracil/leucovorin (FU/LV) for patients with stage III colorectal cancer. ⋯ Adjuvant FOLFOX is a cost-effective treatment for stage III colon cancer in Japan compared with FU/LV therapy. Even when parameters were changed to reflect smaller improvements with FOLFOX, the conclusion is the same.

Further validation of the uterine fibroid symptom and quality-of-life questionnaire.
To further examine the reliability, validity and responsiveness of the uterine fibroid symptom and quality-of-life (UFS-QOL) questionnaire among women with and without uterine fibroids. ⋯ The UFS-QOL is a valid and reliable measure to assess symptoms and HRQL in women with uterine fibroids and is highly responsive to treatment-related changes.

The costs of type 2 diabetes mellitus outpatient care in the Brazilian public health system.
The prevalence of type 2 diabetes has shown a significant increase in parallel with health care costs. The objective of the Brazilian Study on Diabetes Costs (ESCUDI study) was to estimate direct and indirect costs of type 2 diabetes outpatient care in the Brazilian Public Health Care System. ⋯ Diabetes treatment leads to elevated costs both to Brazilian Public Health Care System and society. Costs increased along with duration of disease, level of care and presence of chronic complications, which suggested a need to reallocate health resources focusing on primary prevention of diabetes and its complications.
