The aim of the study was to evaluate musculoskeletal pain due to mechanical reasons and related risk factors in adolescents and to define posture profiles of adolescents. ⋯ According to this study, body posture was related to musculoskeletal pain and was correlated with physical activities, school desk comfort, and school grades of the adolescents. It is suggested that correct posture and ergonomic positions should be taught to adolescents when using computers, carrying school backpacks, and sitting in school chairs to prevent musculoskeletal pain.

The purpose of the pilot study was to determine if an educational program on opioid safety and disposal during a preoperative joint replacement class would increase the frequency of disposal of unused opioids with a disposal pouch at the end of the episode of care in patients undergoing joint replacement. A secondary aim was to quantify the milligrams of morphine equivalents prescribed, used, disposed, and remaining in joint replacement patients. ⋯ Provision of a disposal pouch in combination with a live educational program on opioid safety and disposal increased the rate of disposal of unused opioids in a postoperative population.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of the application of a heating pad on the sacral region on pain and anxiety during a transrectal prostate biopsy. ⋯ Applying a heating pad to the sacral region during a transrectal prostate biopsy is an effective non-pharmacologic method to increase patient comfort and reduce pain and anxiety.

Effect of Lavender Aromatherapy On Arteriovenous Fistula Puncture Pain and the Level of State and Trait Anxiety in Hemodialysis Patients: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Patients undergoing haemodialysis suffer from anxiety and pain due to the insertion of haemodialysis needles, estimated totally 320 times per year. ⋯ Lavender inhalation could be used as a safe, simple, and low-cost method in nursing care if it is proved to be effective in reducing anxiety and relieving pain after needle insertion into a fistula in patients undergoing haemodialysis.
