To assess whether body pain was associated with different trauma histories (physical injury vs. interpersonal injury [IPI]) within Australian women, along with body pain and trauma history associations with biological and psychological (biopsycho) confounders. ⋯ The relationship between IPI and body pain was found to be mediated by biopsycho burden, whereas the relationship between physical injury and body pain was not. Also, a history of IPI was associated with a greater biopsycho burden than was a history of physical injury. These results suggest there is clinical value in considering the comprehensive trauma history of patients with pain when developing their biopsychosocial model of care.

Diabetic neuropathic pain is associated with small fiber neuropathy. We aimed to assess the functionality of small fibers in patients with diabetes by using a practical method. ⋯ There is an unmet need to practically assess the functionality of small fibers in patients with pain. In this study, a practical and objective method that does not need special expertise for the measurement of the functional properties of small fibers by using axon-flare responses is presented. The LASCA method could potentially facilitate a practical, quick (within 5 minutes), and very early diagnosis of small fiber hypo-functionality in both patients with IGT and DNP.

Previous studies have demonstrated that emotional stress, changes in lifestyle habits and infections can worsen the clinical course of migraine. We hypothesize that changes in habits and medical care during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) lockdown might have worsened the clinical course of migraine. ⋯ Approximately half the migraine patients reported worsening of their usual pain during the lockdown. Worse clinical course in migraine patients was related to changes in triggers and the emotional impact of the lockdown.

To explore hypersensitivity to pain and musculoskeletal impairments in the lumbopelvic area in women with and without endometriosis. ⋯ The presence of pain sensitization signs and lumbopelvic impairments, more pronounced in patients with stage IV endometriosis and moderate/severe CuPP, warrants the development of rehabilitation interventions targeting pain and lumbopelvic impairments in women with endometriosis.

Opioid Overdose Risk in Patients Returning to the Emergency Department for Pain.
Using the Risk Index for Overdose or Serious Opioid-induced Respiratory Depression (CIP-RIOSORD) in patients returning to the emergency department (ED) for pain and discharged with an opioid prescription, we assessed overall opioid overdose risk and compared risk in opioid naive patients to those who are non-opioid naive. ⋯ A substantial proportion of patients (25%) were high risk for opioid overdose. CIP-RIOSORD may prove beneficial in risk stratification of patients discharged with prescription opioids from the ED.
