Randomized Controlled Trial[Clinical efficacy of immunotherapy of dendritic cell and cytokine-induced killer cell combined with chemotherapy for treatment of multiple myeloma].
This research was aimed to evaluate the immune mechanism and clinical effect of immunotherapy of dendritic cells (DC) and cytokine-induced killer cell (CIK) combined with chemotherapy on multiple myeloma (MM). ⋯ Chemotherapy could break the immunosuppression of MM and improve the anti-tumor response of DC-CIK; Chemotherapy and DC-CIK may have synergistic effect for MM.

Comparative Study[Comparison of autologous and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for 140 patients with de novo acute leukemia in first complete remission].
To evaluate the outcome of patients with de novo acute leukemia (AL, no AML-M(3)) in CR(1) undergone autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (auto-HSCT) or HLA-identical sibling allogeneic HSCT (allo-HSCT). ⋯ The long-term LFS of auto-HSCT was comparable to that of allo-HSCT in the management of patients with AL in CR(1), because autograft purging and post-transplant treatment can significantly decrease relapse of auto-HSCT patients and auto-HSCT has lower therapy-related toxicities.

[The effect of down regulating of p27 on the activity of hematopoietic progenitor cells derived from umbilical cord blood and bone marrow ex vivo].
To compare p27 interfering effect on the proliferation and hematopoietic potential of hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPC) derived from human bone marrow (BM) and umbilical cord blood (UCB), and investigate the related mechanism. ⋯ p27 gene interfering could promote HPC proliferation, hematopoietic potential and the response to stimulations of UCB HPC is higher than that of BM HPC ex vivo. It seems that cell cycle controlled by p27 was related to CDK2.

[Treatment options and prognosis in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients].
To explore the effect of treatment option on the response and outcomes in multiple myeloma (MM) patients suitable for autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (auto-HSCT). ⋯ For newly-diagnosed MM younger than 65 are suitable for auto-HSCT, the best response of CR/VGPR was associated with OS and PFS. Auto-HSCT is also important prognostic factor for PFS. Induction therapy with Bortezomib can achieve rapid CR/VGPR while auto-HSCT as a crucial consolidation therapy and maintenance therapy maybe also important for improvement of long-term outcome.
