Antiglide versus lateral plate fixation for Danis-Weber type B malleolar fractures caused by supination-external rotation injury.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate functional results and the frequency of complications in the distal fibula Danis-Weber type B fractures caused by supination-external rotation injury in a group of lateral and antiglide plate fixation. ⋯ In the present study, the outcome of the surgically treated Weber type B fractures caused by supination external rotation injury was comparable in both groups. The antiglide plate fixation showed no signs of peroneal tendinopathy, low rate of complications. We believe this technique is safe and a good method of fixation as well as traditional lateral plating.

Case ReportsA case of rapidly destructive osteoarthritis of the hip with onset of less than six weeks.
Rapidly destructive osteoarthritis is characterized by a severe destruction of the hip joint developing over short periods of time. However, to date, there is no agreement on the biological process that triggers this condition. The aim of this report is to present a case of rapidly destructive osteoarthritis. ⋯ Rapidly destructive osteoarthritis of the hip is a complex entity that might be more frequent than previously described and which clinical course could vary between few weeks and several months. In order to make an accurate diagnosis, other causes of massive destruction of the joint should be excluded.

Inpatient orthopaedic hardware removal in children: A cross-Sectional study.
Few data describe the specific reasons for inpatient hardware removal in the pediatric population. This study was designed to understand the conditions necessitating inpatient removal following fracture surgery. Cost data was analyzed to understand the financial implications of these procedures. ⋯ While most commonly performed as an outpatient procedure, inpatient hardware removal occurs with relative frequency and is most often performed for infection, mechanical failure, or pain. Risk factors for infection-related removal were identified and provide a basis for further investigation.

Midterm radiologic and functional outcomes of minimally-invasive fixation of unstable pelvic fractures using anterior internal fixator(INFIX) and percutaneous iliosacral screws.
Anterior pelvic external fixation is associated with pin site infections, aseptic loosening with loss of reduction, frame bulkiness hindering patient mobilization and consequent difficulties in inpatient nursing. We performed a single-center prospective series to evaluate the feasibility, safety, limitations and midterm radiologic and functional outcomes of an alternative minimally invasive pelvic internal fixation technique using an anterior subcutaneous pelvic internal fixator (INFIX) and percutaneous iliosacral screws in unstable pelvic ring fractures. ⋯ Level IV.
