The study aims to evaluate the characteristics, treatments, and incidence rates of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) and tenosynovitis in women with breast cancer, according to the hormone therapy used. We retrospectively reviewed women with breast cancer identified from the clinical data warehouse of the six hospitals in Korea, from January 2015 to August 2020. Among them, patients with CTS or tenosynovitis were reviewed in terms of disease status and treatments. ⋯ More than half of the CTS and tenosynovitis occurred within 12 months after hormone commencement. The incidence and disease characteristics of CTS and tenosynovitis differed among the groups depending on the type of hormone therapy received. Our findings will help clinicians understand clinical courses and treatments for CTS and tenosynovitis in breast cancer patients.

Responses to a Neutralizing Monoclonal Antibody for Hospitalized Patients With COVID-19 According to Baseline Antibody and Antigen Levels : A Randomized Controlled Trial.
In a randomized, placebo-controlled, clinical trial, bamlanivimab, a SARS-CoV-2-neutralizing monoclonal antibody, given in combination with remdesivir, did not improve outcomes among hospitalized patients with COVID-19 based on an early futility assessment. ⋯ U.S. government Operation Warp Speed and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Effect of frailty on 6-month outcome after traumatic brain injury: a multicentre cohort study with external validation.
Frailty is known to be associated with poorer outcomes in individuals admitted to hospital for medical conditions requiring intensive care. However, little evidence is available for the effect of frailty on patients' outcomes after traumatic brain injury. Many frailty indices have been validated for clinical practice and show good performance to predict clinical outcomes. However, each is specific to a particular clinical context. We aimed to develop a frailty index to predict 6-month outcomes in patients after a traumatic brain injury. ⋯ European Union, Hannelore Kohl Stiftung, OneMind, Integra LifeSciences Corporation, NeuroTrauma Sciences, NIH-NINDS-TRACK-TBI, US Department of Defense.

The Beirut Port Explosion Injuries and Lessons Learned: Results of the Beirut Blast Assessment For Surgical Services (BASS) Multicenter Study.
This multicenter study aims to describe the injury patterns, emergency management and outcomes of the blast victims, recognize the gaps in hospital disaster preparedness, and identify lessons to be learned. ⋯ We, therefore, describe the injury patterns, emergency flow and trauma outcome of patients injured in the Beirut port explosion. The clinical and system-level lessons learned can help prepare for the next disaster.

Blood culture contamination in the departments of paediatrics and child health at two tertiary training hospitals in central South Africa.
Bloodstream infections are an important cause of mortality in children. Blood cultures (BCs) remain the primary means of identifying organisms and their antibiotic susceptibility profiles. A shortcoming of BCs is that up to 56% of positive cultures will represent contaminants. Poor adherence to standard practices applicable to BC sampling could explain an unacceptable contamination rate. ⋯ The BC contamination rate was higher than internationally accepted rates. Educating clinicians on specific BC sampling guidelines is strongly recommended to decrease the high rate of contamination observed in this study.
