To investigate whether perioperative ultrasound-guided serratus anterior plane block (SAPB) combined with general anesthesia is more effective and safer than current analgesic techniques for postoperative analgesia after video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). ⋯ Perioperative ultrasound-guided SAPB combined with general anesthesia provided more effective postoperative analgesia after VATS. However, no significant advantage was found regarding side effects.

The Analgesic Efficacy of Transversus Abdominis Plane Block After Bariatric Surgery: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis with Trial Sequential Analysis.
The transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block has been used to relieve pain after bariatric surgery but with conflicting data on its analgesic efficacy. We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis with trial sequential analysis to clarify whether TAP block provides effective postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing bariatric surgery. We systematically searched the literature for any trials comparing TAP block with a control group (no block or sham injection). ⋯ The overall quality of evidence was moderate-to-low. There is moderate-to-low level evidence that the TAP block improves postoperative analgesia after bariatric surgery up to 24 postoperative hours, when compared with a control group, without major reported complications. Clinical Trial NumberPROSPERO - registration number: CRD42019136542.

Acupuncture for pain relief of women undergoing transvaginal oocyte retrieval: A meta analysis and systematic review protocol.
Pain during oocyte retrieval, which can make the in-vitro fertilization process an unpleasant experience, is becoming a common problem. Although there are many analgesic methods available in the clinical setting, they are not therapeutically equivalent, and some are associated with varying adverse reactions. In recent years, acupuncture analgesia has been used in the perioperative period of oocyte retrieval because of its perceived efficacy and safety. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to provide evidence that acupuncture is effective in the treatment of vaginal oocyte retrieval pain. ⋯ CRD42020170095.

Meta Analysis Comparative Study
Comparison of intrathecal morphine versus local infiltration analgesia for pain control in total knee and hip arthroplasty: A meta-analysis.
The purpose of this meta-analysis was to comprehensively collect randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to assess the clinical efficacy of intrathecal morphine (ITM) versus local infiltration analgesia (LIA) in the treatment of total knee and hip arthroplasty patients. ⋯ LIA was an effective approach for relieving postoperative pain and reducing postoperative consumption of morphine compared with ITM in total knee and hip arthroplasty patients.
