The coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) pandemic caused delays in the diagnosis and management of breast cancer which may have affected disease presentation. The aim of this study was to compare rates of metastatic disease, tumour characteristics and management in breast cancer patients diagnosed before and after the onset of COVID-19. ⋯ Symptomatic breast cancers diagnosed since the onset of COVID-19 demonstrated an increase in new metastatic presentations and more aggressive histopathological characteristics when compared to a pre-pandemic control group. Rates of adjuvant radiotherapy and axillary surgery increased during the pandemic.

Chile is contending with the highest rates of new human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cases in both Latin America and globally, despite substantial ongoing investments in treatment. This comprehensive study, derived from PUBMED and Google searches, ANID data, and various organizational reports, highlights key areas for improvement. Over the past decade, Chile's annual infection rate has risen, signaling an urgent need for detailed analysis and effective solutions. ⋯ Chile faces significant challenges in meeting the 90/90/90 targets, yet there is optimism in aiming for the 95/95/95 strategy by 2030. Achieving success requires a global commitment, an emphasis on prevention, and collaborative efforts among authorities, healthcare providers, and patients. Overcoming these identified barriers is essential for Chile to reach its ambitious goal and ultimately end the HIV epidemic.

Obstetric outcomes of women vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine (≥1 dose): A single-center retrospective cohort study of pregnant Chinese women.
In the context of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the quickly developed COVID-19 vaccine may cause various adverse reactions, especially in special groups, such as pregnant women. However, many pregnant women have concerns regarding vaccination in terms of safety for themselves and their neonates. Therefore, we studied the obstetric outcomes of pregnant women in Zunyi, China. ⋯ Based on the adverse reaction and obstetric outcome data of pregnant women who received the COVID-19 vaccine in China, the vaccine does not raise any safety concerns. This result is the same as that of other countries we summarized. The COVID-19 vaccine has no effect on pregnancy outcomes.

Trends in electrocardiographic and cardiovascular manifestations of patients hospitalised with COVID-19.
Early in the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, a low incidence of cardiovascular complications was reported in Singapore. Little was known about the trend of cardiovascular complications as the pandemic progressed. In this study, we examined the evolving trends in electrocardiographic and cardiovascular manifestations in patients hospitalised with COVID-19. ⋯ Cardiovascular complications appear to be increasing in proportion over time among hospitalised patients with COVID-19. A baseline ECG and HR measurement may be helpful for predicting these complications.

A Final Report on the Real Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Diagnosis of Gastrointestinal Cancer in Akita Prefecture, Japan in 2022.
The long-term impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on the disruption of gastrointestinal cancer diagnoses remains unclear. This study investigated the actual impact on esophagogastric cancer (EGC) and colorectal cancer (CRC) diagnoses up to the third year of the pandemic in Akita Prefecture, Japan, using population-based registry data. We collected data on the annual number of EGC and CRC diagnoses using a database from the collaborative Akita Prefecture hospital-based registration. ⋯ The total number of CRCs in the first three years of the pandemic exceeded that in the three years before, suggesting successful recovery of the diagnostic procedure. The proportion of cancer stages and initial treatment for EGCs and CRCs remained largely unchanged after the onset of the pandemic. Based on the population-based registry data from the first three years of the pandemic, the disruption of gastrointestinal cancer diagnoses caused by the pandemic is settling down without any substantial disease progression, even in Akita Prefecture, the area with the highest incidence of cancer in all of Japan.
