[Anatomic study of the supra-infratentorial presigmoid partial labyrinthectomy keyhole approach assisted by neuro-navigation].
To design a new supra-infratentorial presigmoid partial labyrinthectomy keyhole approach assisted by neuro-navigation system, and to explore the possibility of removing the approach-correlated bone precisely. ⋯ It is feasible to perform the supra-infratentorial presigmoid partial labyrinthectomy keyhole approach. The exposed field and the maximal angle of vision can be obviously increased by partial labyrinthectomy with petrous apicectomy.

Clinical TrialAccuracy of intraoperative registration during electromagnetic neuronavigation in intracranial procedures performed in children.
The aim of the study was to evaluate registration accuracy in an electromagnetic navigation system applied to image-guided intracranial procedures in children. ⋯ Electromagnetic neuronavigation, which does not require firm head fixation, can be used in the youngest age group. Nevertheless, registration accuracy is lower in newborns and infants. Neither imaging modality (MRI or CT) used for creation of a three-dimensional model of the patient's head nor registration of more than 6 landmarks have an impact on registration accuracy.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate retrospectively the indications, surgical technique, and postoperative findings in a series of 35 patients presenting lumbar canal stenosis due to osteoarthritic degeneration who underwent surgery using a tubular system for muscle retraction. ⋯ The short-, mid-, and long-term results of spinal canal recalibration using a less invasive approach to lumbar canal stenosis via a tubular system for muscle retraction has provided encouraging results in terms of symptom relief. The early postoperative period is short and uneventful allowing earlier resumption of daily activities. This technique reduces the cost of hospitalization and drugs and is adapted for geriatric patients. The long-term outcome with this technique should be assessed in terms of spinal stability after recalibration.

[Multimodal neuronavigation and intraoperative ultrasound visualization in the surgery of intracranial tumors].
The author presents an analysis of using neuronavigation and intraoperative ultrasound in 317 patients after surgical treatment of intracranial tumors. High efficacy of the intraoperative ultrasound visualization has been shown in the detection of remaining parts of the intracranial tumor, improved radical surgery and less lesion to the brain. The strategy of using neuronavigation and intraoperative ultrasound visualization with the tumor size (volume) taken into consideration has been developed.
