To report our experience of combined CT- and fluoroscopy-guided nephrostomy in patients with non-obstructive uropathy due to urine leaks in cases of failed ultrasound-guided procedures. ⋯ Combined CT- and fluoroscopy-guided nephrostomy in patients with non-obstructive uropathy due to urine leaks in cases of failed ultrasound-guided procedures was feasible with high technical success and a tolerable complication rate.

Case ReportsAnatomical studies on the temporal bridging veins with Dextroscope and its application in tumor surgery across the middle and posterior fossa.
To evaluate the application of virtual reality technology in neurosurgical anatomy we compared the virtual three-dimensional (3D) microanatomy of the temporal bridging veins as part of the resection of tumors across the petrosal crest in 25 patients against the actual microanatomy of the temporal bridging veins on 20 cadaveric head sets. ⋯ Virtual reality technology can accurately simulate the anatomical feature of the temporal bridging veins which facilitates the planning of individual operations in neurosurgery.

Robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP) is usually performed in steep Trendelenburg position, which can be associated with cardiac impairment due to positioning and capnoperitoneum. This study investigated haemodynamic consequences and cardiac function in this type of surgery and evaluated the hypothesis that steep Trendelenburg position and capnoperitoneum results in haemodynamic and ventricular impairment. ⋯ The steep Trendelenburg position may improve haemodynamic function and does not deteriorate left or right ventricular function during RALP. However, mitral valve insufficiency may be aggravated by positioning and capnoperitoneum.

We report the final results of a pilot clinical trial exploring the safety and feasibility of real-time magnetic resonance-guided laser-induced thermal therapy (MRgLITT) for treatment of resistant focal metastatic intracranial tumors. ⋯ Real-time magnetic resonance (MR) guidance of laser-induced thermal therapy (LITT) offers a high level of control. This tool therefore enables a minimally invasive option for destruction and treatment of resistant focal metastatic intracranial tumors. MR-guided LITT appears to provide a safe and potentially effective treatment for recurrent focal metastatic brain disease. A larger phase II and III series would be of interest to quantify potential median survival advantage.
