Randomized Controlled TrialA randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of nightly sildenafil citrate to preserve erectile function after radiation treatment for prostate cancer.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common adverse event associated with treatment for prostate cancer. This study aimed to identify whether early, regular use of sildenafil after radiation treatment for prostate cancer is effective at reducing the rate of ED at 2 years. ⋯ There was no evidence from this trial that sildenafil provides long-term erectile function for patients while on medication. Regular use of sildenafil may improve short-term sexual function for patients while on medication. Larger trials are required to examine the effectiveness of implementing sildenafil for prostate cancer patients undergoing radiation treatment.

To compare effects of tadalafil on ejaculatory and orgasmic function in patients presenting with erectile dysfunction (ED). To determine the effects of post-treatment ejaculatory dysfunction (EjD) and orgasmic dysfunction (OD) on measures of sexual satisfaction. ⋯ Tadalafil treatment was associated with significant improvements in ejaculatory function, orgasmic function and sexual satisfaction. Proportions of subjects reporting improved ejaculatory or orgasmic function were ≈ twofold higher with tadalafil than with placebo. These findings warrant corroboration in prospective trials of patients with EjD or OD (without ED).

Altered sexual and reproductive functions in epileptic men taking carbamazepine.
Epileptic men may experience hormonal changes that may alter semen quality and sexual function. Alterations in male sexual and reproductive parameters may also be due to treatment with antiepileptic drugs to control seizures. ⋯ Epileptic men taking CBZ present with changes in hormonal levels, altered semen quality, ED, and a reduction in coital frequency.
