To evaluate the effect of one month of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in a subgroup of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients with erectile dysfunction (ED) and compare this subgroup with age- and body mass index (BMI)-matched OSA patients without ED. ⋯ ED in OSAS is related to nocturnal hypoxemia, and about 75% of OSAS patients with ED treated with nasal CPAP showed remission at one-month follow-up, resulting in significant improvement in quality of life.

To evaluate erectile function after permanent prostate brachytherapy using a validated patient-administered questionnaire and to determine the effect of multiple clinical, treatment, and dosimetric parameters on penile erectile function. ⋯ Using a patient-administered validated quality-of-life instrument, brachytherapy-induced ED occurred in 50% of patients at 3 years. On multivariate analysis, preimplant erectile function and the D(50) to the proximal crura were the best predictors of brachytherapy-related erectile function. Because the proximal penis is the most significant treatment-related predictor of brachytherapy-related ED, techniques to minimize the radiation dose to the proximal penis may result in improved rates of potency preservation.

To determine how well a single question of self-reported erectile dysfunction compares to a gold standard clinical urologic examination. ⋯ Our single-question self-report accurately identifies men with clinically diagnosed ED, and may be useful as a referral screening tool in both research studies and general practice settings.

Hemodynamic effects of sildenafil citrate and isosorbide mononitrate in men with coronary artery disease and erectile dysfunction.
Mild hemodynamic effects have been reported with sildenafil citrate therapy. ⋯ Sildenafil 100 mg was well tolerated and induced smaller changes in central and peripheral hemodynamic pressures compared with ISMN 40 mg. Moreover, sildenafil selectively reduced pulmonary resistance, which may have clinical importance in pulmonary hypertension.
