Vascular endothelial growth factor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (VEGF-TKIs) are a common cancer treatment. However, the pharmacologic characteristics of VEGF-TKIs may influence cardiovascular risks. The relative risks of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) associated with VEGF-TKIs are poorly understood. ⋯ Higher-potency and lower-selectivity VEGF-TKIs may influence the risks of MACEs, heart failure, and thromboembolism. These findings may facilitate evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.

Virtual reality (VR)-based pulmonary rehabilitation has been used in the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The efficacy of VR-based pulmonary rehabilitation for improving lung function in patients with COPD is controversial. Therefore, the aim of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the efficacy of VR combined with pulmonary rehabilitation for lung function in patients with COPD. ⋯ This meta-analysis indicated that VR regimens could be used to enhance the therapeutic effect of pulmonary rehabilitation in patients with COPD. However, as a rapidly evolving field, more well-designed randomized controlled trials are needed to determine the impact of VR-based pulmonary rehabilitation on COPD patients.

Different nursing interventions on sleep quality among critically ill patients: A systematic review and network meta-analysis.
Critically ill patients in intensive care often struggle with disrupted sleep, a prevalent issue in this population. However, the question of which non-pharmacological intervention is most effective in enhancing sleep quality remains unanswered. This study was conducted to comprehensively evaluate and compare the efficacy of various non-pharmacological interventions aimed at improving sleep quality among critically ill individuals. ⋯ In summary, eye masks and earplugs + eye masks stand out as the most effective interventions for enhancing sleep quality in critically ill patients. Therefore, critical care nurses should consider incorporating the use of eye masks alone or combining music with eye masks into the sleep care regimen for critically ill patients.

In traditional Chinese medicine, Sinomenii Caulis contains Sinomenine (SIN), one of the major active ingredients. According to some studies, SIN can reduce proteinuria and provides clinical effectiveness rates in diabetic kidney disease (DKD) patients, however, the evidence is not strong and mechanisms of action are unclear. The efficacy and safety of SIN in treating DKD were evaluated by meta-analysis, and the potential mechanism of SIN therapy for DKD was initially explored by network pharmacology. ⋯ SIN is an effective and safe drug for treating DKD, enhancing clinical efficacy, and reducing proteinuria. The main potential mechanism is anti-inflammatory.

Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) is the prevailing form of autoimmune thyroiditis and the leading cause of hypothyroidism in iodine-sufficient regions worldwide. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of vitamin D supplementation on HT through a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). ⋯ Vitamin D supplementation may have beneficial effects on HT patients by modulating immune responses and improving thyroid function.
