Antibiotic effectiveness for children with lower respiratory infections: prospective cohort and trial in primary care.
Antibiotics are commonly prescribed for children with chest infections but there is little randomised evidence and trials commonly recruit selected populations, which undermines their applicability. ⋯ Antibiotics for uncomplicated chest infections, even in a sample of more unwell children, are unlikely to be clinically very effective.

Randomized Controlled TrialRandomization to a Liberal Versus Conservative Oxygenation Target: Redox Responses in Critically Ill Children.
Optimal systemic oxygenation targets in pediatric critical illness are unknown. A U-shaped relationship exists between blood oxygen levels and PICU mortality. Redox stress or iatrogenic injury from intensive treatments are potential mechanisms of harm from hyperoxia. ⋯ On comparing liberal with conservative oxygenation targets, we show, first, significant redox response (increase in urinary markers of RONS), but no changes in markers of lipid or protein oxidation. We also show what appears to be an early hypoxic response (increase in HIF-1a gene expression) in subjects exposed to conservative rather than liberal oxygenation targets.

Examining the impact of randomized control intervention on depressive symptoms in schoolchildren with atypical behaviors.
The need to investigate depression among disadvantaged groups motivated this study. This study investigated the impacts of rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) on depressive symptoms in schoolchildren with atypical behaviors in Enugu State Nigeria. ⋯ Following the outcomes, we concluded that REBT is a long-term efficacious intervention for treating depressive symptoms in schoolchildren with atypical behaviors in Enugu State Nigeria regardless of location and gender.

Evaluation of BNT162b2 Covid-19 Vaccine in Children Younger than 5 Years of Age.
Safe and effective vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) are urgently needed in young children. ⋯ A three-dose primary series of 3-μg BNT162b2 was safe, immunogenic, and efficacious in children 6 months to 4 years of age. Effect of oral Xiao-xian decoction combined with acupoint application therapy on pediatric adenoid hypertrophy: A randomized trial.
This study aimed to observe the clinical effects of Xiao-xian decoction combined with acupoint application therapy (AAT) for treating pediatric adenoid hypertrophy (AH). ⋯ Oral Xiao-xian decoction combined with AAT significantly improved the symptoms and signs of nasal congestion, open-mouth breathing, snoring, tongue, and quality of life of AH children and may be used as a long-term treatment for AH.
