Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is an enveloped, negative-sense, single-stranded RNA virus of the Orthopneumovirus genus of the Pneumoviridae family in the order Mononegavirales. RSV can cause acute upper and lower respiratory tract infections, sometimes with extrapulmonary complications. The disease burden of RSV infection is enormous, mainly affecting infants and older adults aged 75 years or above. ⋯ For children who are not eligible for these vaccines, passive immunization is recommended. A newly approved prophylactic monoclonal antibody, Nirsevimab, which offers enhanced neutralizing activity and an extended half-life, provides exceptional protection for high-risk infants and young children. This review provides a comprehensive and detailed exploration of RSV's virology, immunology, pathogenesis, epidemiology, clinical manifestations, treatment options, and prevention strategies.

Comparative Effectiveness of Analgesia for Early Pain Management After Pediatric Tonsillectomy: A Systematic Review and Network Meta-Analysis.
Timely and effective analgesia after tonsillectomy in children is crucial, but there is currently no consensus on the optimal analgesics. This analysis aimed to identify the most effective for this surgery. ⋯ Based on these results, we would recommend local bupivacaine infiltration or local levobupivacaine infiltration for older children and dexamethasone injection for younger children for early analgesia after tonsillectomy. However, clinicians should choose the optimal analgesic based on the individual child's condition and clinical situation.

The importance of routine hypertension screening in children and adolescents is now well recognized. However, it is often undiagnosed in clinical practice, partly due to the reliance on a complex blood pressure (BP) percentile-based table with hundreds of cutoffs by age, sex, and height. ⋯ We recommend using static BP cutoffs (120/80 mmHg for children and 130/80 mmHg for adolescents) to facilitate the screening of pediatric hypertension in clinical practice, thereby bridging the gap between perception and action.

Citrate Anticoagulation in Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy: Multicenter PICU Study of Filter-Related Outcomes.
To examine citrate anticoagulation in continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) in the PICU. ⋯ Citrate anticoagulation for CRRT is an option for children. Choosing an initial CID greater than or equal to 2.7 mmol/L-bf provides longer EFL but with the associated potential of citrate accumulation. Further studies are needed on initial CID and duration of EFL.
