The laryngeal mask airway (LMA) has become an important choice in both routine and difficult airway management. We aimed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of LMA use in pediatric patients with tonsillar hypertrophy. ⋯ The application of LMA has a lower incidence of complications. LMA as an airway device is effective and perhaps superior in appropriate patients.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparative Evaluation of One-handed Versus Two-handed Mask Holding Techniques in Children During Inhalational Induction of Anesthesia: A Randomized Crossover Study.
We aimed to evaluate if two-handed mask airway is superior to one-handed mask airway during inhalational induction of anesthesia in children. ⋯ In children with obstructive sleep apnea due to adenotonsillar hypertrophy, two-handed airway provides superior airway patency that was not influenced by the anesthetic depth.

Virtual reality for intravenous placement in the emergency department-a randomized controlled trial.
This study sought to determine whether adding virtual reality (VR) was superior to standard of care alone in facilitating reduction in pain and anxiety among children who underwent intravenous catheterization in the emergency department (ED). Sixty-six children aged 6-16 years who needed intravenous placement received VR, or standard of care in the ED (videos, television, iPad, child life specialist). Outcome measures included change in pain score, level of anxiety, patient and parent satisfaction (pain and anxiety), number of trials, and procedure time. ⋯ Conclusion: VR was an effective distraction tool and increased satisfaction from anxiety management for this common pediatric procedure, and should be incorporated in management of anxiety in children in the ED setting. Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is characterized by a persistent pattern of inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity. Despite the proven efficacy of pharmacological treatment, many individuals continue to suffer socially and academically and some experience significant side effects that negate the use psychotropic drugs. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a cortical neuromodulation feature that has shown positive results in the treatment of various neuropsychiatric conditions. ⋯ Triple blind, randomized, sham-controlled, cross-over trial involving tDCS in children and adolescents with ADHD. Initial screening will be performed using Swanson, Nolan, and Pelham - IVand Wechsler intelligence scale for children fourth edition vocabulary and cube subtests. Individuals will be evaluated pre-tDCS and post-tDCS with the Wechsler intelligence scale for children fourth edition Digitus subtest, neuropsychological assessment battery second edition inhibiting responses subtest, Corsi cubes, and visual attention test-4.
