Analysis of Potential Hub Genes for Neuropathic Pain Based on Differential Expression in Rat Models.
Neuropathic pain (NP) is a type of intractable chronic pain with complicated etiology. The exact molecular mechanism underlying NP remains unclear. In this study, we searched for molecular biomarkers of NP. ⋯ The results of this study form a basis for further research into the mechanism of NP development and are expected to aid in the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

ReviewTitle: Novel Analgesic Potential of ß2-Agonists for Neuropathic Pain via ß2-Agonist Action.
Multimodal therapies are often employed to treat chronic pain, and ß2-agonists are a potential drug class that shows promise. The primary aim of this paper is to discuss the role of ß2-agonists as an adjunctive therapy for chronic pain based on the current literature. ⋯ Recent studies in mouse models have shown that the ß2-adrenergic system plays an essential role in the analgesic properties of antidepressant drugs used to treat neuropathic pain and that the adrenergic relies on an intact endogenous opioid system to be effective. Studies also show that ß2-agonism alone is adequate to exert anti-allodynic effects in a mouse model. This paper summarized the basic physiology and pharmacology of the sympathetic nervous system and specifically the ß2-adrenergic system and summarized current literature in its involvement in the treatment of chronic neuropathic pain.

Neuropathic pain following brachial plexus avulsion injury (BPAI) induces plastic changes in multiple brain regions associated with somatosensory function, pain, or cognition at the group level. The alternation of the whole pattern of resting-state brain activity and the feasibility of a brain imaging, information-based diagnosis of pain following BPAI is poorly investigated. ⋯ Our study indicated that MVPA based on the PET scans of rats' brains could successfully identify neuropathic pain from health condition at the individual level and predictive regions could potentially be provided as neuroimaging biomarkers for the neuropathic pain following BPAI.

An overlooked nerve ın neuropathies associated with ıntragluteal ınjections: the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve.
The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of posterior femoral cutaneous nerve (PFCN) lesions in patients referred to the electrophysiology laboratory with an initial diagnosis of sciatic nerve lesion following injection, and to create awareness that PFCN lesions can occur following intramuscular injections administered to the gluteal region. ⋯ As correct diagnosis is the priority starting point for successful treatment, clinicians should plan examinations taking into consideration the fact that PFCN lesions can occur following gluteal region injection.

Although neuropathic pain is a significant problem in polyneuropathy, the underlying molecular mechanisms are poorly understood. The endogenous bioactive lipids 2-arachidonoyl-glycerol (2-AG), oleoylethanolamide (OEA), palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), and stearoylethanolamide (SEA) are known to influence pain and inflammation in the peripheral nervous system. The aim of this study was to explore the plasma levels of endocannabinoids and related lipids and health-related quality of life in patients with polyneuropathy with and without pain. ⋯ Alterations of 2-AG levels between polyneuropathy patients with and without neurogenic pain indicate that it could play an essential role. Further studies are warranted.
