The aim of this study was to retrospectively investigate factors predicting a successful outcome after ozone chemonucleolysis (OCN) in patients with radicular pain and poor response to conservative treatments. ⋯ OCN is an effective treatment for radicular pain due to disk herniation. Pain duration (< 1 year), MSU disk herniation type (1A, 1B, 1C, 2A, and 2B), disk degeneration grade 2, and absence of foraminal stenosis are all associated with the successful outcome and should be carefully evaluated before OCN.

Cognitive-Evaluative Dimension of Pain in Neuropathic Pain Relapse in Sciatica: A Case Report.
The cognitive-evaluative (C-E) dimension of pain is commonly observed in patients with a relatively long duration of pain. However, little is known about the effects of pain relapse on the C-E dimension of pain. Moreover, the improvement process of the C-E dimension of pain following treatment is unknown. ⋯ The C-E dimension of pain was observed with pain relapse even though it was in the acute phase of pain. This case provides a novel insight into the C-E dimension of pain. Moreover, the delay in improving the C-E dimension of pain indicates a difference in the improvement process for each pain dimension.

To investigate the effect of core stability training on nonspecific low back pain (NSLBP) in nurses. The data were collected retrospectively by reviewing the patient's medical records and pain questionnaires in our rehabilitation center. A total of 40 nurses with NSLBP were included and divided into observation group and control group. ⋯ After 4 weeks of intervention, the AEMG of the healthy and the affected side of the two groups showed an improved trend without significant difference (P > .05, respectively). The MF of affected side was significantly higher 4 weeks after intervention than those before treatment in the observation and control group (P < .05, respectively). Core stability training can alleviate pain, improve the fatigue resistance of the core muscles and the balance of the functions of bilateral multifidus muscles in nurses with NSLBP.

Back to living well: community-based management of low back pain: a feasibility study.
Low back pain (LBP) is a long-term health condition with an unpredictable pattern of symptomatic episodes, remission, and recurrence. Recently published systematic reviews suggest that exercise is the most effective intervention for preventing recurrences of LBP in persons that have recovered. Similar programs may also be effective in preventing flare-ups in persistent LBP. The aim of this study was to test the feasibility of the Back to Living Well program (Physical activity + Education + Self-management) developed to prevent recurrence or flare-ups of LBP. The study evaluated feasibility in terms of recruitment rate, adherence, satisfaction with the exercise and education sessions, and the data collection procedures. We also aimed to evaluate barriers and facilitators to the engagement in the program. ⋯ The results show the program is feasible in terms of recruitment, low attrition, and patient satisfaction. Participants highlighted the excellent, relevant education program and the positive, personalized exercise. Future studies should evaluate the effectiveness of this intervention within a fully powered randomized controlled trial.

Alpha lipoic acid with pulsed radiofrequency in treatment of chronic lumbosacral radicular pain: A prospective, randomized study.
The effect of adding alpha lipoic acid (ALA) to pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) for treatment of lumbar-sacral pain was evaluated. ⋯ The current study supports the use of ALA with PRF on the dorsal root ganglion for treating lumbosacral radicular pain.
