A randomized controlled trial of ibuprofen versus ketorolac versus diclofenac for acute, nonradicular low back pain.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are the first-line medication for acute low back pain (LBP). It is unclear if the choice of NSAID impacts outcomes. We compared ibuprofen, ketorolac, and diclofenac for the treatment of acute, nonradicular LBP. ⋯ There were no important differences between groups with regard to the primary outcome. These data do not rule out that possibility that ketorolac results in better pain relief and less stomach irritation than ibuprofen.

The influence of a MOBile-based video Instruction for Low back pain (MOBIL) on initial care decisions made by primary care providers: a randomized controlled trial.
Adherence to guidelines for back pain continues to be a challenge, prompting strategies focused on improving education around biopsychosocial frameworks. ⋯ Factors that influence medical treatment decisions and guideline-concordant care are complex. This particular patient education approach directed at patients did not appear to influence healthcare decisions made by primary care providers. Future studies should focus on high-risk populations and/or the impact of including the medical provider as an active part of the educational process.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffectiveness of a multifaceted intervention to improve emergency department care of low back pain: a stepped-wedge, cluster-randomised trial.
Overuse of lumbar imaging is common in the emergency department (ED). Few trials have examined interventions to address this. We evaluated the effectiveness of a multifaceted intervention to implement guideline recommendations for low back pain in the emergency department. ⋯ It is uncertain if a multifaceted intervention to implement guideline recommendations for low back pain care decreased lumbar imaging in the ED; however, it did reduce opioid prescriptions without adversely affecting patient outcomes. Battlefield Acupuncture Versus Standard Pharmacologic Treatment of Low Back Pain in the Emergency Department: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Battlefield acupuncture (BFA) offers a novel analgesic option that avoids the need for pharmacologic interventions with problematic side effect profiles. ⋯ BFA shows promise for further study as an alternative to standard pharmacologic interventions among adults presenting to the ED with low back pain. © 2021 Elsevier Inc.

Yoga, Eurythmy Therapy and Standard Physiotherapy (YES-Trial) for Patients with Chronic Non-specific Low Back Pain: a Three-Armed Randomized Controlled Trial.
We aimed to evaluate the effects of yoga and eurythmy therapy compared to conventional physiotherapy exercises in patients with chronic low back pain. In a three-armed, multicentre, randomized controlled trial, patients with chronic low back pain were treated for 8 weeks in group sessions (75 minutes once per week). Primary outcome was patients' physical disability (measured by RMDQ) from baseline to week 8. ⋯ Clinical Trials Register: DRKS-ID: DRKS00004651 Perspective: This article presents the results of a multicentre three-armed randomized controlled trial on the clinical effects of three 8-week programs in patients with chronic low back pain. Compared to the 'gold standard' of conventional physiotherapeutic exercises, eurythmy therapy and yoga therapy lead to comparable symptomatic improvements in patients with chronic low back pain. However, the within-group effect sizes were small to moderate and did not reach clinical meaningfulness on patients' physical disability (RMDQ).
