Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
[Effects of sevoflurane and propofol on neuromuscular blocking action of Org 9426 (rocuronium bromide) infused continuously in Japanese patients].
The purpose of this study was to investigate the interaction of anesthetic agents with Org 9426 (rocuronium bromide) infused continuously. The effect of intubation dose of Org 9426 on its infusion rate was also investigated. ⋯ Patients receiving sevoflurane anesthesia required a markedly lower Org9426 infusion rate compared with patients receiving propofol anesthesia.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudyCisatracurium versus vecuronium: a comparative, double blind, randomized, multicenter study in adult patients under propofol/fentanyl/N2O anesthesia.
The aim of this study was to compare the time course characteristics of cisatracurium (C) and vecuronium (V) induced neuromuscular block (NMB) following multiple doses, allowing spontaneous complete recovery (SCRT) and evaluating the influence of age. ⋯ C and V allow predictable NMB duration and spontaneous recovery even if administered in multiple repeated doses; but in elderly patients duration of block and recovery time is longer following V.

Postoperative reintubation after planned extubation in Thai Anesthesia Incidents Study (THAI Study).
To analyze precipitating causes, outcomes and corrective strategies especially anesthetic related factors associated with reintubation after planned extubation in anesthetic technique of general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation. ⋯ More than 90% of RAP occurred in operating theater and recovery room were completely or partially related to anesthetic process. Incidence of RAP could be decreased by quality assurance process of recording, reporting and modeling care process together with increase individual experience.

An analysis of intraoperative recall of awareness in Thai Anesthesia Incidents Study (THAI Study).
This study aimed to analyze intraoperative awareness using database of Thai Anesthesia Incidents Study (THAI Study) with regard to frequency, contributing factors, preventive and corrective strategies. ⋯ The incidence of intraoperative recall of awareness in this study was 0.08%. Patients reported sound, pain, feeling operated without pain, and paralysis. Corrective strategies included guideline practice, additional training, quality assurance activity, and improved supervision.

General anesthesia for pediatric dermatologic procedures: risks and complications.
To assess the safety and adverse events associated with the use of general anesthesia in children undergoing elective dermatologic procedures. ⋯ The use of general anesthesia for dermatologic procedures in a children's hospital setting appears safe, with a low rate of complications.
