The purpose of this study is to compare the angiographic and clinical characteristics of spinal epidural arteriovenous fistulas (SEAVFs) and spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas (SDAVFs) of the thoracolumbar spine. ⋯ SDAVFs and SEAVFs showed similar symptoms and male predominance. SDAVFs frequently involve the thoracic spine and shunt into the bridging vein. SEAVFs frequently involve the lumbar spine and form a shunted pouch in the ventral epidural space draining into the perimedullary vein.

Observational StudyNo evidence of severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 in semen of males recovering from coronavirus disease 2019.
To describe detection of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)-coronavirus 2 (CoV-2) in seminal fluid of patients recovering from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and to describe the expression profile of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) and Transmembrane Serine Protease 2 (TMPRSS2) within the testicle. ⋯ Severe acute respiratory syndrome-CoV-2 was not detected in the semen of patients recovering from COVID-19 1 month after COVID-19 diagnosis. Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2-mediated viral entry of SARS-CoV-2 into target host cells is unlikely to occur within the human testicle based on ACE2 and TMPRSS2 expression. The long-term effects of SARS-CoV-2 on male reproductive function remain unknown.

Surgical treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) may lead to different outcomes in young, middle-aged, and elderly patients. However, no study has, by the same data ascertainment, evaluated referral pattern, improvement, and outcome in different age strata. ⋯ In general, older patients referred to LDH surgery have statistically significantly inferior PROM scores, improve less, and reach inferior PROM scores postoperatively. The clinical relevance must however be questioned because most patients reach, independent of age group, the defined level for a successful outcome, and the patient satisfaction rate is high.

Follow-up computed tomography revealed a 40-mm pancreatic tail cyst in a 59-year-old man with type 1 diabetes mellitus. An intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm was suspected; mucinous cystic neoplasm (MCN) was not considered because the patient was a man. During follow-up, cyst infection occurred but was improved by conservative treatment. ⋯ A diagnosis of male MCN/MCC is often delayed, which may lead to a poor prognosis. MCN infection is also rare and poorly recognized. We observed an atypical male case of MCN/MCC.

[Total cholesterol and the risk of primary liver cancer in Chinese males: a prospective cohort study].
Objective: To investigate the association between total cholesterol (TC) and primary liver cancer in Chinese males. Methods: Since May 2006, all the male workers, including the employees and the retirees in Kailuan Group were recruited in the Kailuan male dynamic cohort study. Information about demographics, medical history and TC levels was collected at the baseline interview, as well as information on newly-diagnosed primary liver cancer cases during the follow-up period. ⋯ Subgroup analyses found that the association between TC levels and primary liver cancer was robust (all Pfor trend<0.05). The results didn't change significantly after exclusion of newly-diagnosed cases within the first 2 years, males with history of cirrhosis or subjects who took antihyperlipidemic drugs, participants with higher TC levels had a lower risk of primary liver cancer (all Pfor trend<0.05) and HR(95%CI) of incident primary liver cancer among participants with the highest quartile TC levels were 0.41 (0.28-0.61), 0.36 (0.25-0.53) and 0.38 (0.26-0.54), respectively. Conslusion: In this large prospective study, we found that baseline TC levels were inversely associated with primary liver cancer risk, and low TC level might increase the risk of primary liver cancer.
