Management of Neuropathic Chronic Pain with Methadone Combined with Ketamine: A Randomized, Double Blind, Active-Controlled Clinical Trial.
Methadone and ketamine are used in neuropathic pain management. However, the benefits of both drugs association are uncertain in the treatment of neuropathic pain. ⋯ This study indicates that ketamine was better than methadone or methadone/ketamine for treating neuropathic pain.Key words: Multimodal analgesia, refractory pain, NMDA receptor, opioid.

Fulranumab in Patients with Pain Associated with Postherpetic Neuralgia and Postraumatic Neuropathy: Efficacy, Safety and Tolerability Results from a Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled, Phase-2 Study.
Fulranumab is an antibody that specifically neutralizes the biological activity of human nerve growth factor. This multicenter, phase-2, randomized, double-blind (DB), placebo-controlled study evaluated the analgesic efficacy and safety of fulranumab in postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) and posttraumatic neuropathy (PTN) patients. ⋯ Fulranumab did not demonstrate efficacy in either PHN or PTN patients, but was generally well-tolerated in this small underpowered and abbreviated study.

Efficacy and Safety of 0.625% and 1.25% Capsaicin Patch in Peripheral Neuropathic Pain: Multi-Center, Randomized, and Semi-Double Blind Controlled Study.
Topical capsaicin therapy may be of benefit in providing pain relief in patients with peripheral neuropathy. ⋯ Our data indicate that the 0.625% CP may prove to be an effective and safe alternative with which to treat patients with peripheral neuropathy and could replace the high concentration (8%) CP. Further studies are now needed to definitively establish efficacy.Key words: Capsaicin, patch, CP, topical capsaicin, neuropathic pain, peripheral neuropathic pain, PNP, high concentration CPTrial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT02228928.

A Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled Trial to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of Pregabalin for Postherpetic Neuralgia in a Population of Chinese Patients.
Currently, there are limited options for treatment of postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) patients in China. While pregabalin is an effective treatment option for PHN in several countries, there is limited information on its efficacy in Chinese patients. ⋯ Pregabalin improved measures of pain and sleep, and is well tolerated in Chinese patients with PHN. These results may inform physicians treating patients with PHN in China.
