Despite politically charged media coverage and legislation surrounding gender affirming care (GAC), many organizations have released position statements to provide scientifically backed clinical practice standards, combat misinformation, and inform medicolegal policies. The purpose of this study is to objectively assess the availability and the content of the official position statements of relevant medical professional organizations regarding GAC. ⋯ This cross-sectional analysis demonstrates that a majority of multidisciplinary professional medical organizations with relevance to GAC have issued formal position statements on the topic. Available positions were overwhelmingly supportive of individualized access to gender-affirming therapies in adult and adolescent populations. However, silence from some organizations continues to represent a modifiable disparity in the provision of GAC.

Despite evidence showing rising suicidality among lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) and Black adolescents, separately, there is scant research on suicide risk trajectories among youth groups across both racial and sexual identities. Thus, we examined trajectories of self-reported suicidal ideation and attempt and their associations with bullying among New York City-based adolescents. We analyzed 2009-2019 NYC Youth Risk Behavior Survey data. ⋯ These changes occurred in parallel with significant bullying increases for Black and Latina/o/x LGB adolescents and significant bullying decreases for White LGB adolescents. Bullying was positively associated with suicidal ideation and attempt for all adolescents. Findings suggest resources aimed at curbing rising adolescent suicide should be focused on Black LGB youth.

Secular trend and projection of overweight and obesity among Chinese children and adolescents aged 7-18 years from 1985 to 2019: Rural areas are becoming the focus of investment.
The urban-rural disparities in overweight and obesity among children and adolescents are narrowing, and there is a need for long-term and updated data to explain this inequality, understand the underlying mechanisms, and identify priority groups for interventions. ⋯ The prevalence of overweight and obesity among Chinese children and adolescents has been steadily increasing from 1985 to 2019. A complete reversal in urban-rural prevalence is expected by 2027, with a higher prevalence of overweight and obesity in rural areas. Urgent action is needed to address health inequities and increase investments, particularly policies targeting rural children and adolescents.
