Review Meta AnalysisCognitive-behavioral therapy for Internet gaming disorder: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Although there is sufficient research and clinical evidence to support the inclusion of gaming disorder in the latest revision of the International Classification of Diseases, relatively little is known about the effectiveness of first-line psychological treatment for gaming disorder or internet gaming disorder (IGD) as it is listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual. This systematic review employed meta-analytic techniques to determine the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) for IGD on four key outcomes: IGD symptoms, anxiety, depression, and time spent gaming. ⋯ Given the rise in treatment demand for internet gaming disorder (IGD) and problematic gaming, it is necessary to determine which treatments are most effective for whom and under which conditions. This review shows that cognitive-behavioural therapy for IGD, which is often considered the first-line therapy, can improve IGD symptoms and comorbid depression. However, treatment gains tend to be short-term and their effect in reducing time spent gaming is unclear. Programs that target problematic gaming may be improved by additional support beyond the standard program of therapy sessions. More funding and resources are needed to support the development of a more rigorous evidence base on IGD and its treatment.

In patients with frequent migraine, prophylactic treatments are used. Patients often request non-pharmacological alternatives. One treatment option can be aerobic exercise. The value of aerobic exercise as prophylactic treatment however needs to be determined. ⋯ There is moderate quality evidence that in patients with migraine aerobic exercise therapy can decrease the number of migraine days. No conclusion for pain intensity or duration of attacks can be drawn. Effect sizes are small due to a lack of uniformity. For future studies, we recommend standardized outcome measures and sufficiently intense training programs.

Review Meta AnalysisPatient-reported factors influencing the treatment decision-making process of older women with non-metastatic breast cancer: a systematic review of qualitative evidence.
Older women (≥ 70 years old) with breast cancer undergo different treatments than young women. Studies have examined factors that influence this disparity, but synthesized patient-reported data are lacking in the literature. This study aims to identify, appraise, and synthesize the existing qualitative evidence on patient-reported factors influencing older women's decision to accept or decline breast cancer treatment. ⋯ This systematic review highlights the complexity of factors that influence an older woman's treatment decision-making process. Acknowledging and addressing these factors may improve discussions about treatment choices between older women and their health care providers, and encourage maximization of a patient-centered approach.

The proximal femur represents the most common site of metastatic bone disease in the appendicular skeleton, and associated pathologic pertrochanteric femur fractures contribute to cancer-related morbidity and mortality. Controversy exists as to whether these injuries are best managed with intramedullary nailing (IMN) or with arthroplasty. ⋯ Level III.

The Safety and Efficacy of Laparoscopic Common Bile Duct Exploration Combined with Cholecystectomy for the Management of Cholecysto-choledocholithiasis: An Up-to-date Meta-analysis.
The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of the laparoscopic common bile duct exploration (LCBDE) and laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) with preoperative endoscopic sphincterotomy (pre-EST) and LC for concomitant gallstones and common bile duct (CBD) stones. ⋯ The updated meta-analysis first confirms that LCBDE+LC is superior to pre-EST+LC both in perioperative safety and short- and long-term postoperative efficacy, which should be considered as optimal treatment choice for cholecysto-choledocholithiasis.
