Clinical efficacy of botulinum toxin type A in the treatment of fasciitis pain: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
The purpose of this meta-analysis was to assess the effectiveness of botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) in reducing pain associated with fasciitis. By synthesizing the findings from multiple studies, we aimed to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the current evidence regarding the efficacy of BoNT-A in the treatment of fasciitis pain. ⋯ BoNT-A has a significant analgesic effect on fasciitis pain. Therefore, BoNT-A presents a promising alternative treatment option for fasciitis (PROSPERO 2022: CRD42022382805).

Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a cause of hip pain and early joint lesion in patient. The hip-preserving treatments are especially important for patients in early stage of ONFH. However, it is controversial of the effectiveness and safety of bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMNCs) in the treatment of ONFH. The aim of the study was to explore the mid- and long-term efficacy (particularly the rate of total hip arthroplasty [THA]) with BMMNCs in treatment of ONFH. ⋯ Current evidence supports that BMMNCs therapy could reduce the mid- and long-term rate of THA, improve hip function, alleviated the degree of hip pain, delay the progression of imaging staging and not increase the rate of complication, which maybe serve as a preferred option for treating ONFH.

Traditional Chinese Medicine for non-motor symptoms in Parkinson disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis of RCTs.
Parkinson disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease, which has impacts on the patient's quality of life due to non-motor symptoms such as sleep disorders, anxiety, and depression. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has gained increasing attention in the diagnosis and treatment of PD with the concept of "overall concepts and dialectical treatment." Therefore, exploring the characteristics of TCM in the treatment of PD can improve the level of diagnosis and treatment of PD. ⋯ TCM is effective and safety for improvement of depression, anxiety, autonomic dysfunctions, and quality of life in PD. Zishen Pingchan granules was particularly effective for depression; and Pingchan granules was particularly effective for quality of life.

Peripheral nerve injuries (PNI) resulting from trauma can be severe and permanently disabling, approximately one-third of PNIs demonstrate incomplete recovery and poor functional restoration. However, despite extensive research on this aspect, complete functional recovery remains a challenge. In East Asian countries, Chinese herbal Buyang Huanwu Decoction (BHD) has been used to treat PNI for more than 200 years, and the studies of BHD to treat PNI have been increasing in recent years based on positive clinical outcomes. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to scientifically evaluate the safety and clinical efficacy of BHD in patients with PNI. ⋯ Current evidence suggests that BHD is an effective and safe treatment for PNI and could be treated as a complementary and alternative option with few side effects compared to a single treatment with neurotrophic drugs or electrical stimulation. However, considering the low methodological quality of the included studies, further rigorous studies are required.
