The safety and efficacy of melatonin in the treatment of COVID-19: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
As an infectious disease caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the common signs of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and dyspnea, with multiple organ injuries in severe cases. Therefore, finding drugs to prevent and treat COVID-19 is urgently needed and expected by the public. Several studies suggested beneficial effects of melatonin for the relevant prevention and treatment. To explore the effect and safety of melatonin in the treatment and provide theoretical support and reference for seeking the most suitable drug for COVID-19, the meta-analysis was carried out accordingly. ⋯ The meta-analysis showed that melatonin had the beneficial effects for COVID-19 prevention and treatment as an adjunctive agent in combination with basic treatment for the treatment.

The purpose of this study was to analyze unilateral biportal endoscopic discectomy (UBE) and percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD) for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation. ⋯ There are no significant differences in clinical efficacy between UBE and PELD, according to the research. However, PELD has the potential to improve outcomes such as operation time and intraoperative hemorrhage. As just a result, PELD is better suited in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation.

Effects of isometric training on the treatment of patients with neck pain: A meta-analysis.
The aim of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the effects of isometric training interventions on the treatment of patients with neck pain. ⋯ Isometric training has significant effects on relieving neck pain, improving neck dysfunction, and improving joint mobility. However, the two indicators of visual analogue scale and neck disability index had more influential factors; the sample size of most studies was relatively small, and the intervention measures in the control group were relatively simple. It is expected that more abundant research will expand and deepen in the future, laying the foundation for meta-analysis.

Double-expressor lymphoma (DEL) is associated with a poor prognosis. The standard treatment for patients with DEL remains controversial. A comparison of the safety and feasibility of R-CHOP and DA-EPOCH-R as the first-line therapy for patients with DEL is urgently needed. ⋯ The results of this study indicated that DA-EPOCH-R might improve the prognosis of DEL patients compared with R-CHOP.

The efficacy of parecoxib in improving pain after total knee or total hip arthroplasty: Systematic review and meta-analysis.
The cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) selective inhibitor parecoxib is widely used in the treatment of pain and inflammation. Parecoxib has been adopted for use for postoperative analgesia following a range of surgical procedures (orthopedic, general, gynecological, and dental surgery). Total knee or total hip arthroplasty (THA) surgery is mostly done in older patients, so postoperative analgesics need to be used more carefully, and the safety and efficacy of parecoxib in this type of surgery need to be further verified. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of parecoxib on patient safety, cumulative morphine consumption and was at 24 and 48 hours in the analgesic treatment of total knee or THA for meta-analysis and systematic review, with few studies in this area so far. ⋯ Parecoxib can reduce the incidence of adverse events after total knee or total hip surgery to some extent but cannot reduce the incidence of nausea and vomiting. Twenty-four hour postoperative analgesia is better than placebo, but 48 hours after operation analgesia is the same as placebo.
