Observational StudyUsefulness of the CONUT index upon hospital admission as a potential prognostic indicator of COVID-19 health outcomes.
In-hospital mortality in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is high. Simple prognostic indices are needed to identify patients at high-risk of COVID-19 health outcomes. We aimed to determine the usefulness of the CONtrolling NUTritional status (CONUT) index as a potential prognostic indicator of mortality in COVID-19 patients upon hospital admission. ⋯ The CONUT index upon admission is potentially a reliable and independent prognostic indicator of mortality and length of hospitalization in COVID-19 patients.

COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the world population, with a high rate of morbidity and mortality. While the evidence to date has attempted to describe clinical feature of acute illness, recent reports have also begun to describe persistent symptoms that extend beyond the initial period of illness. ⋯ The burden of disease secondary to this pandemic is likely to be enormous and not limited to acute disease alone, thus epidemiological studies are needed to further investigate the long-term impact of this disease. This review summarizes the current evidence on short-term effects and describes the possible long-term sequelae of COVID-19.

To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) clusters in Hainan, and to provide a basis for the prevention and control of disease clusters. Descriptive epidemiology was used to retrospectively analyze the characteristics of disease clusters in 168 cases of COVID-19. Of the 168 COVID-19 cases, 99 (58.93%) comprised 29 clusters, 22 (75.86%) of which were imported and included 63 cases (63.64%), while 7 clusters (24.14%) were local and included 36 cases (36.36%). ⋯ The infectivity of all cases with an incubation period of ≤14 days was 1.89 ± 1.23, in which the infectivity of family members was 1.43 ± 1.37. COVID-19 clusters in Hainan mainly occurred in families, and local clusters had high infectivity. Therefore, key populations and regions should be monitored, and targeted preventive measures should be carried out to provide a reference for the prevention and control of disease clusters.

Ocular chemical burn associated with gel type alcohol-based hand sanitizer: A case report.
Alcohol-based hand sanitizers (ABHS) are widely used for hand hygiene due to the coronavirus disease pandemic. However, risk awareness regarding its adverse effects is lacking. We aim to report a case of ocular chemical burn that showed severe clinical presentation associated with ABHS. ⋯ Gel-type ABHS can cause severe form of ocular chemical burn such as delayed ocular surface healing. In clinical setting, immediate and thorough rinsing of alcohol-based gel and early intensive treatment are crucial.
