The severe respiratory syndrome 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has spread explosively, raising global health concerns. Luteolin shows antiviral properties, but its effect on SARS-CoV-2 and the associated mechanisms are not elucidated. We used network pharmacology, molecular docking and molecular dynamics to provide potential molecular support of luteolin (3,4,5,7-tetrahydroxyflavone) (LUT) against COVID-19. ⋯ A total of 64 potential target genes for treating COVID-19 were identified, of which albumin, RAC-alpha serine/threonine-protein kinase, caspase-3, epidermal growth factor receptor, heat shock protein HSP 90-alpha, and mitogen-activated protein kinase 1 might be the most promising. In addition, molecular docking results showed that LUT could interact with SARS-CoV-2 major protease 3CL. LUT can bind to the active sites of 3CL protease and mitogen-activated protein kinase 1, showing an anti-SARS-CoV-2 potential.

There is limited information describing the course and severity of illness in subjects infected by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 Omicron variant, especially in children. In this population-based cohort study, subjects with Omicron variant infection during the outbreak between January 8 and February 12, 2022 in Tianjin, China were included (n = 429). The main outcomes were the distribution of asymptomatic, mild, moderate, and severe patients, and clinical courses including the interval from positive polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test to the onset, aggravation or relief of symptoms, and the interval of reversing positive PCR-test into negative, and length of hospital stay. ⋯ The median interval of reversing positive PCR-test into negative was 12.0 (10.0, 13.0) days. Symptomatic and moderate Covid-19 in Omicron infections was common in adults and children, recovery from Omicron infections took around 2 weeks of time. The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 Omicron infection in this study was not as mild as previously suggested.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) long-term effect is the new challenge facing healthcare providers that should be further assessed. We aim to describe the characteristics and patterns of long-term consequences of COVID-19 among recovered patients. COVID-19 patients baseline data was extracted from hospital records and alive patients filled self-reported symptoms questionnaires. ⋯ Small number of CXR showed persistent abnormalities in the middle right, the lower right, and lower left zones with an average overall score during admission 13.8 ± 4.9 and 0.3 ± 1.01 for the follow-up images. Effects of COVID-19 were found to persist even after the end of the infection. This would add on to the disease burden and would foster better management.

Attitudes toward herbal medicine for COVID-19 in healthcare workers: A cross-sectional observational study.
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has adversely affected working life all over the world, and the employees with the highest risk of transmission have been those in the health sector. Since there are currently no effective treatments for COVID-19, there have been numerous attempts to find alternative treatments for both the spread of the infection and its treatment. These efforts have included the use of herbal extracts to boost immunity and reduce the likelihood of contracting the infection. ⋯ The herb most frequently utilized was ginger (54%). Healthcare workers use HM at rates that are the same as those of the general population. Both its use during infections and the idea that it is effective are more common among healthcare professionals than in the general population.
