Multicenter Study Observational Study
Sepsis prevalence among patients with suspected infection in emergency department: a multicenter prospective cohort study.
In the emergency department (ED), the early identification of patients suspected of infection is a challenge for emergency physicians. Sepsis prevalence among patients with suspected infection in the ED remains uncertain. Our objective was to determine how many cases of sepsis occurred among patients with suspected infections in the ED. ⋯ In the ED, among patients with a suspected infection, the prevalence of sepsis as per the 'sepsis-3' definition was 39% [95% CI (34-44)].

Multicenter Study[The prognostic role of the programmed death-1 expression on T lymphocytes in septic patients].
Objective: To investigate the value of programmed death-1(PD-1) expression on the T lymphocytes for the prognosis of septic patients. Methods: From September 2017 to May 2019, septic patients were included in Department of Intensive Care Unit at 6 hospitals. The PD-1 expression on T cells were measured by flow cytometry. ⋯ The percentage of PD-1+/CD8+T cell was 3.91%, with AUC 0.771, sensitivity 64.29%, specificity 81.25%,(P=0.000 3). Conclusions: The T cell PD-1 expression is an independent risk factor to predict the 28-day mortality in septic patients. Combining the proportions of PD-1+/CD3+, PD-1+/CD4+and PD-1+/CD8+T cells may further enhance the predictive value for death.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyEvaluating Pediatric Sepsis Definitions Designed for Electronic Health Record Extraction and Multicenter Quality Improvement.
To describe the Children's Hospital Association's Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes sepsis definitions and the identified patients; evaluate the definition using a published framework for evaluating sepsis definitions. ⋯ The Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes Sepsis definitions demonstrated feasibility for large-scale data abstraction. The patients identified provide important information about children treated for sepsis. When operationalized, these definitions enabled multicenter identification and data aggregation, indicating practical utility for quality improvement.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyNormothermia in Patients With Sepsis Who Present to Emergency Departments Is Associated With Low Compliance With Sepsis Bundles and Increased In-Hospital Mortality Rate.
To investigate the impact of normothermia on compliance with sepsis bundles and in-hospital mortality in patients with sepsis who present to emergency departments. ⋯ Normothermia at emergency department triage was significantly associated with an increased risk of in-hospital mortality and a lower rate of compliance with the sepsis bundle. Despite several limitations, our findings suggest a need for new strategies to improve sepsis outcomes in this group of patients.
