Validation of self-administered tests for screening for chronic pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain.
Many women develop pelvic girdle pain (PGP) during pregnancy and about 10% have chronic pain several years after delivery. Self-administered pain provocation tests are one way to diagnose and evaluate this pain. Their validity in post-partum women is not yet studied. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity of self-administered test for assessment of chronic pregnancy-related PGP several years after delivery. ⋯ A battery of self-administered tests combined with for example additional specific questions or a pain-drawing can be used as a screening tool to diagnose chronic PGP years after delivery. However, the modified SLR test has limitations which makes its use questionable.

The literature places the occurrence of paediatric Monteggia lesions between 1.5% and 3% of all childhood elbow injuries. There are circumstances, which may make early correct diagnosis difficult. Failure to make an early correct diagnosis may have catastrophic consequences on joint range of motion in the chronic stage. The goal of this paper is to describe our three-step approach to the treatment of acute Monteggia lesions based on the stability and radiological appearance of the fracture dislocation, to give an overview of possible pitfalls and clinical and radiological signs that aid the diagnostic process. ⋯ The Three Step Method allows for primary definitive treatment of these lesions with low complication rates and good range of motion result. Implementing the three step method in the acute phase helps avoid catastrophic consequences on joint range of motion in the chronic stage.

Effect of galcanezumab on severity and symptoms of migraine in phase 3 trials in patients with episodic or chronic migraine.
Galcanezumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody that binds calcitonin gene-related peptide, has demonstrated a significant reduction in monthly migraine headache days compared with placebo. Here, we analyze data from 3 randomized clinical trials (2 episodic trials [EVOLVE-1, EVOLVE-2] and 1 chronic trial [REGAIN]), to examine if galcanezumab also alleviates the severity and symptoms of migraine. ⋯ Galcanezumab reduces the frequency of migraine headache days and can alleviate potentially disabling non-pain symptoms on days when migraine is present in patients with episodic or chronic migraine.

Ruptures of the pectoralis major (PM) tendon are rare but have increased in recent years, especially during fitness exercising, such as bench pressing. The pathomechanism is an eccentric load under pretension of the PM (falling onto the outstretched arm, injuries during ground combat, boxing and during downward movement when bench pressing). The rupture sequence starts from superior to inferior at the insertion site with initial rupture of the most inferior muscle parts, followed by the sternal part and the clavicular part. ⋯ Surgical refixation or reconstruction (with autograft/allograft) of acute and chronic PM ruptures shows excellent clinical results with high patient satisfaction. Latissimus dorsi (LD) and teres major (TM) tendon ruptures are rare injuries but can lead to significant impairments in high-performance athletes. In contrast to PM ruptures, LD and TM injuries are primarily treated conservatively with very satisfactory results.
