Single nucleotide polymorphisms in microRNAs are believed to affect the occurrence and progression of cancer by altering the expression and biological functions of microRNAs. Several studies investigated the role of the miR-149 rs2292832 C>T polymorphism on the risk of gastric cancer (GC), but got conflicting results. ⋯ Our meta-analysis suggests a positive correlation between miR-149 rs2292832 C>T polymorphism and GC development among Caucasians, but negative correlation among Asian population.

There are approximately 140 000 people in Germany with spinal cord injury, with approximately 2400 new patients each year. Cervical spinal cord injuries cause, to varying degrees, weakness and impairment of everyday activities of the limbs (tetraparesis, tetraplegia). ⋯ Modern techniques of hand surgery can help suitably selected tetraparetic and tetraplegic patients regain the use of their upper limbs. Competent interdisciplinary counseling about these surgical options should be offered as early as possible to all affected persons as an integral part of their treatment plan.

This study was conducted to explore the influencing factors of gastrointestinal function recovery after cesarean section (CS), which could provide a reference for the enhanced recovery after surgery in obstetrics. This is a cross-sectional survey on Chinese mothers receiving CS. The participants's socio-demographic characteristics, perioperative diet, medical condition and gastrointestinal function after surgery were collected by a self-designed questionnaire. ⋯ The parity, type of CS, 2-hours bleeding after surgery, time of first meal after surgery, whether taking peppermint water after surgery were the independent influencing factors for gastrointestinal function recovery after CS. We should pay more attention to the mothers with scarred uterus, manage the labor process strictly, and reduce 2-hours bleeding after surgery. The mothers with CS should also be encouraged to eat early and take peppermint water to promote intestinal peristalsis actively.

This study evaluated the effects of comprehensive functional nursing on functional recovery and quality of life in patients with spinal cord injuries (SCIs). A total of 214 patients with SCIs treated in our hospital from October 2019 to October 2021 were included in the retrospective analysis and divided into a general care group (n = 107) and a comprehensive care group (n = 107), based on the care that they received. Patients in the general care group received general functional nursing, whereas those in the comprehensive care group received a comprehensive functional nursing intervention. ⋯ After nursing, the RMI, BI, BBS score, FEV1, FEV1/FVC, MVV, maximum micturition volume, bladder volume, and SF-36 scores of the comprehensive care group were significantly higher than those of the general care group, and the LVEDD, LVESD, micturition time, residual urine volume, and LUTS, HAMA, and BDI scores of the comprehensive care group were significantly lower than those of the general care group. In patients with SCIs, comprehensive functional nursing can promote the recovery of neurocognition, bladder function, and cardiorespiratory function, and improve their quality of life. Comprehensive functional nursing is worthy of clinical application.

To identify the active constituents, core targets, immunomodulatory functions and potential mechanisms of Dizhi pill (DZP) in the treatment of myopia. The active constituents and drug targets of DZP were searched in the TCMSP, Herb databases and correlational studies. The targets of myopia were searched in the TTD, Genecards, OMIM and Drugbank databases. ⋯ In pathways identified by the GO and KEGG enrichment analyses, "ATP metabolic process" and "AGE-RAGE diabetes complication signaling" pathways were closely related to the mechanisms of DZP in the treatment of myopia. Molecular docking showed that both the intersectional targets and core targets of myopia could bind stably and spontaneously with the active constituents of DZP. This study suggested that the mechanisms of DZP in the treatment of myopia were related to active constituents: Quercetin, Beta-sitosterol, Diincarvilone A, Ferulic acid methyl ester and Naringenin, intersectional targets: STAT3, PIK3CA, PIK3R1, MAPK1, MAPK3, and HSP90AA1, core targets of myopia: MIP and LGSN, AGE-RAGE signaling pathway, positive regulation of ATP metabolic process pathway and immunomodulatory functions.
