Effect of Adding Perineural Methylprednisolone to Peripheral Nerve Blocks Combined With Intravenous Dexamethasone for Prolonged Postdischarge Analgesia After Fast-track Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) may experience moderate-to-severe subacute pain after hospital discharge that may be undermanaged. We aimed to evaluate the effect of methylprednisolone added to ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks (PNBs) combined with multimodal analgesia including intravenous dexamethasone for prolonged analgesia after early discharge. ⋯ Adding perineural methylprednisolone to ultrasound-guided PNBs for multimodal analgesia with intravenous dexamethasone did not prolong analgesia and improved the functional ability after fast-track TKA within 12 postdischarge days. However, the incidence moderate-to-severe pain may increase between the 2-week and 3-month follow-up.

Effects of EEG burst suppression on cerebral oxygen metabolism and postoperative cognitive function in elderly surgical patients: A randomized clinical trial.
This randomized clinical trial determined the effects of electroencephalographic burst suppression on cerebral oxygen metabolism and postoperative cognitive function in elderly surgical patients. ⋯ In elderly patients undergoing surgery, intraoperative BS significantly reduced cerebral oxygen metabolism, which temporarily affected postoperative neurocognitive function.

The effect of training using an upper limb rehabilitation robot (HEXO-UR30A) in chronic stroke patients: A randomized controlled trial.
Upper limb robotic rehabilitation can be beneficial to the patients when applied appropriately. HEXO-UR30A is a novel exoskeletal type upper limb rehabilitation robot that provides continuous passive motion to the shoulder joint. ⋯ These results show that HEXO-UR30A can improve functional ability in chronic stroke patients. Moreover, the high satisfaction in patients might promote active involvement in upper limb rehabilitation.

Effects of elongation longitudinaux avec decoaption osteo-articulaire and post-facilitation stretching technique on pain and functional disability in mobile users with text neck syndrome during COVID-19 pandemic: A randomized controlled trial.
Adolescent smartphone users have developed a variety of musculoskeletal conditions due to their use of smartphones. ELDOA (Elongation longitudinaux avec decoaption osteo-articulaire) is based on maximizing facial and spinal stretching by assuming specific posture for 1 minute and post facilitation stretching is also a type of muscle energy technique that is used for chronically shortened or tight muscles. This aimed to compare the effects of post-facilitation stretching technique and ELDOA on neck pain and functional disability in mobile users experiencing Text neck syndrome during COVID-19. ⋯ The study concluded that ELDOA method and post-facilitation stretching both were effective in treating neck pain and functional disability. However, ELDOA method was superior to post-facilitation stretching effects on neck pain and functional disability among patients with text neck syndrome.

The effects of Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856 on functional gas and bloating in adults: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study.
Gut microbiome dysbiosis is a major cause of abdominal gas, bloating, and distension. Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856 (LactoSpore) is a spore-forming, thermostable, lactic acid-producing probiotic that has numerous health benefits. We evaluated the effect of Lacto Spore on improving the clinical symptoms of functional gas and bloating in healthy adults. ⋯ Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856 may be a potential supplement to reduce gastrointestinal symptoms in adults with abdominal gas and distension.
