Opacification of the lens of the eye (cataract) is usually due to aging. It is a painless, progressive condition that affects contrast and color perception and alters refraction, leading to visual loss that may be total. In cataract surgery, the turbid lens is replaced by an artificial lens. An estimated 600 000 to 800 000 such procedures are performed in Germany each year. ⋯ In Germany, cataract surgery is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. Artificial lenses with various additional functions are available nowadays; the choice of lens depends on the needs of the individual patient. Patients must be adequately informed about the advantages and disadvantages of the different lens systems.

Secondary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis associated with heat stroke: A case report and review of literature.
Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a syndrome with potentially fatal consequences that results from an excessive immune response caused by malfunctioning natural killer cells and cytotoxic T lymphocytes. Secondary HLH, which is the predominant type in adults, is associated with various medical conditions, including infections, malignancies, and autoimmune diseases. Secondary HLH associated with heat stroke has not been reported. ⋯ We report a novel case of secondary HLH associated with heat stroke. Diagnosing secondary HLH can be difficult since clinical manifestations of the underlying disease and HLH may present simultaneously. Early diagnosis and prompt initiation of treatment is required to improve the prognosis of the disease.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a common lung cancer. Although there are various treatments for LUAD, its prognosis remains poor. Therefore, it is imperative to identify new targets and develop novel therapeutic strategies. ⋯ GO analyses showed that PRR11 participated in biological processes such as cell division and cell cycle, and was involved in protein binding and microtubule binding functions. KEGG analyses revealed that PRR11 was implicated in p53 signaling pathway. All the results indicated that PRR11 might be an independent prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for LUAD.
