Thyroid storm (TS), also known as thyroid crisis, is a life-threatening condition that involves multiple organ dysfunction and high mortality due to uncontrolled hyperthyroidism. TS in children is extremely rare, early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve the prognosis of the children. ⋯ TS should be identified timely and treated early. Further studies are needed to determine the diagnostic criteria and scoring system for TS in pediatric.

Sleep deprivation often lead to changes in attention, memory, mood, alertness, and metabolism. Especially, it is often accompanied by cognitive impairment of the brain. Acupuncture is safe and effective for improving cognitive function, but its underlying mechanism is not fully understood. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging is an important means to study brain activity changes. However, the results are inconsistent and lack systematic evaluation and analysis. ⋯ This meta-analysis aims to investigate the efficacy of acupuncture on brain activity changes in sleep deprivation comorbid with cognitive dysfunction, so as to provide effective evidence for clarifying its pathogenesis.

Case Reports
Esophageal achalasia, diagnosed through the repeated manometry, alleviated using benzodiazepine: A case report.
Idiopathic achalasia is an esophageal peristaltic dysfunction of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). The initial symptom is progressive dysphagia. However, due to its rarity, it is often misdiagnosed as an esophageal disorder. High LES pressure on esophageal manometry is an essential finding for the diagnosis. ⋯ When patients still suffer from these symptoms, there is a need to reconsider achalasia, even if it is initially excluded from the differential diagnosis. Medication is not a radical treatment; however, it sometimes ameliorates symptoms. Moreover, the psychosomatic approach can be useful in such cases.

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a conventional gynecological condition and the mechanism is not entirely clear. Although an increasing number of studies revealed that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have essential functions in many diseases, little knowledge has been acquired in POP. The current study aimed to investigate the regulatory mechanism of lncRNA in POP. ⋯ The network was constructed based on the correlation analyses of the abnormally expressed lncRNAs and their target proteins to imitate their interactions. Taken together, this study was the first to demonstrate the differential expression profiles of lncRNA in POP and normal tissues by sequencing technology. Our study indicated that lncRNAs could correlate with the development of POP and may be as significant genes in the diagnosis and treatment of POP.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Trial of Endovascular Thrombectomy for Large Ischemic Strokes.
Trials of the efficacy and safety of endovascular thrombectomy in patients with large ischemic strokes have been carried out in limited populations. ⋯ Among patients with large ischemic strokes, endovascular thrombectomy resulted in better functional outcomes than medical care but was associated with vascular complications. Cerebral hemorrhages were infrequent in both groups. (Funded by Stryker Neurovascular; SELECT2 ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT03876457.).
