To systematically evaluate the correlation between serum osteocalcin levels and cognitive function status in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) patients. ⋯ Based on a meta-analysis of included studies, we concluded that there is a moderately strong positive correlation between serum osteocalcin levels and patients' cognitive function in T2D. An intervention to increase serum osteocalcin levels can contribute to delaying and improving cognitive decline in patients with T2D.

Xiao-ai-ping injection (XAPI) combined with chemotherapy has potential efficacy and less side effects in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). At present, there are many clinical studies on XAPI combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of NSCLC, but the results are different. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of XAPI combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of NSCLC by meta-analysis system. ⋯ Our meta-analyses demonstrated that XAPI adjunct with chemotherapy can improve the patient quality of life, reduce adverse reactions, and enhanced immune function, the treatment is effective and high safety. Which suggests that it might be used for NSCLC. However, a large sample of randomized controlled trials are needed to further study the long-term efficacy of XAPI.

Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) is a chronic global brain disease mainly involving small blood vessels in the brain. The disease can be gradually aggravated with the increase of age, so it is the primary cause of brain dysfunction in the elderly. With the increasing aging of the world population and the high incidence of cerebrovascular risk factors, the incidence of CSVD is increasing day by day. ⋯ Currently, no clear preventive measures or treatments exist to improve the condition. With the development of magnetic resonance imaging, CSVD has become more and more recognized and the detection rate has gradually improved. This paper reviews the research progress of magnetic resonance imaging and cognitive impairment, gait impairment, affective impairment, urination disorder, swallowing disorder, and other disorders to provide a useful reference for the early diagnosis and treatment of CSVD and expand new ideas.

The use of tirofiban as an adjunct to endovascular therapy (EVT) for acute ischemic stroke has been controversial. We aimed to assess the differences in safety and efficacy of EVT adjuvant to tirofiban in patients with anterior circulation stroke (ACS) and posterior circulation stroke (PCS). ⋯ In acute ischemic stroke patients undergoing EVT, tirofiban improves good functional outcomes in ACS patients and increases recanalization rates in PCS patients on the 1 hand, reduces mortality, and does not increase the risk of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage on the other. Tirofiban is safe and effective in both anterior circulation stroke and posterior circulation stroke patients undergoing EVT. More large multicentre randomized controlled studies are needed in the future.

The pulmonary and cardiovascular systems have profound effects on each other. Overall cardiac function is determined by heart rate, preload, contractility, and afterload. Changes in lung volume, intrathoracic pressure (ITP), and hypoxemia can simultaneously change all of these four hemodynamic determinants for both ventricles and can even lead to cardiovascular collapse. ⋯ Heart-lung interaction is very dynamic and changes in lung volume, ITP, and oxygen level can have various effects on the cardiovascular system depending on preexisting cardiovascular function and volume status. Heart failure and either hypo or hypervolemia predispose to greater effects of ventilation of cardiovascular function and gas exchange. This review is an overview of the basics of heart-lung interaction.
