Prevalence risk of sarcopenia in older Brazilian adults during the pandemic: A cross-sectional analysis of the Remobilize Study.
Social distancing has led to lifestyle changes among older adults during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. ⋯ During the pandemic, the prevalence of RS in older Brazilians was estimated at 17.1%. Moderate to severe functional limitation, comorbidities, presence of pain, walking, longer SB period, and reduced life space mobility significantly contributed to RS in older adults during the pandemic.

The population living in conditions of poorness has a heavier pathological burden than social strata with better economic possibilities. ⋯ The evidence generated should lead to decisions aimed at improving the quality of life of the population with social deprivations and vulnerabilities, which needs to be protected against the consequences of current COVID-19 pandemic.

there is evidence on the effectiveness and safety of tocilizumab (TZC) used in combination with systemic corticosteroids for severe SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia treatment. The purpose of this study was to describe epidemiological, clinical, and laboratory features as well as clinical outcome of patients receiving this combination therapy compared with those receiving only corticosteroids. ⋯ we were able to demonstrate its efficacy in reducing inflammatory biomarkers and a trend towards fewer days of hospitalization, with no impact on mortality.
