Large volume acute normovolemic hemodilution in patients undergoing cardiac surgery with intermediate-high risk of transfusion: A randomized controlled trial.
To investigate whether large volume acute normovolemic hemodilution (L-ANH), compared with moderate acute normovolemic hemodilution (M-ANH), can reduce perioperative allogeneic blood transfusion in patients with intermediate-high risk of transfusion during cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). ⋯ Compared with M-ANH, L-ANH during cardiac surgery inclined to be associated with reduced perioperative RBC transfusion and the volume of RBC transfusion was inversely proportional to the volume of ANH. In addition, LANH during cardiac surgery was associated with a lower incidence of postoperative excessive bleeding.

The effect of opioid-free anaesthesia on the quality of recovery after endoscopic sinus surgery: A multicentre randomised controlled trial.
It remains to be determined whether opioid-free anaesthesia (OFA) is consistently effective for different types of surgery. ⋯ OFA can provide good intraoperative analgesia and postoperative recovery quality as effectively as conventional opioid anaesthesia in patients undergoing ESS. OFA can be an alternative option in the pain management of ESS.

Effect of Cold Therapy on Managing Postoperative Pain Following Breast Conserving Surgery.
Cold therapy is an important non-pharmacologic method used for pain relief. ⋯ Cold therapy is an easy and effective non-pharmacologic method for pain relief after BCS in patients with breast cancer. Cold therapy reduces the acute pain of the breast and contributes to the quality of recovery of those patients.

Mini-dose esketamine-dexmedetomidine combination to supplement analgesia for patients after scoliosis correction surgery: a double-blind randomised trial.
Patients often experience severe pain after scoliosis correction surgery. Esketamine and dexmedetomidine each improves analgesia but can produce side-effects. We therefore tested the hypothesis that a mini-dose esketamine-dexmedetomidine combination safely improves analgesia. ⋯ NCT04791059.

Postoperative recovery after breast cancer surgery: A randomised controlled trial of opioid-based versus opioid-free anaesthesia with thoracic paravertebral block.
Perioperative use of opioids has revealed significant adverse effects associated with poor postoperative outcomes. ⋯ TPVB-based opioid-free anaesthesia improved early postoperative quality of recovery without compromising pain control in patients undergoing breast cancer surgery.
