Comparison between supra-inguinal fascia iliaca and pericapsular nerve group blocks on postoperative pain and functional recovery after total hip arthroplasty: A noninferiority randomised clinical trial.
Pain after a posterolateral approach for total hip arthroplasty (THA) may affect early functional recovery. Supra-inguinal fascia iliaca (SFIB) and pericapsular nerve group (PENG) blocks have been proposed as promising analgesia techniques. ⋯ Following a total hip arthroplasty via the posterolateral approach, a PENG block is noninferior to SFIB regarding postoperative pain control 6 h after surgery, and functional recovery.

Effect of permissive hypercarbia on lung oxygenation during one-lung ventilation and postoperative pulmonary complications in patients undergoing thoracic surgery: A prospective randomised controlled trial.
The effect of hypercarbia on lung oxygenation during thoracic surgery remains unclear. ⋯ Permissive hypercarbia improved lung oxygenation during one-lung ventilation without increasing the risk of postoperative pulmonary complications or the length of hospital stay.

Rhomboid intercostal block or thoracic paravertebral block for postoperative recovery quality after video-assisted thoracic surgery: A prospective, non-inferiority, randomised controlled trial.
The analgesic characteristics of rhomboid intercostal block (RIB) remain unclear. Before it can be fully recommended, we compared the recovery quality and analgesic effects of RIB and thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). ⋯ chictr.org.cn: ChiCTR2100043841.

Randomized Controlled TrialBilateral Ultrasound-Guided Mid-Point Transverse Process to Pleura Block for Perioperative Analgesia in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery: A Randomized Controlled Study.
Mid-point transverse process to pleura (MTP) block is a new regional analgesia technique. This study aimed to assess the perioperative analgesic effects of MTP block in children undergoing open-heart surgery. ⋯ Single-shot bilateral ultrasound-guided MTP block in children undergoing cardiac surgery reduced the mean fentanyl consumption in the first postoperative 24 hours, intraoperative fentanyl requirements, pain score at rest, time to extubation, and duration of ICU stay.

Large volume acute normovolemic hemodilution in patients undergoing cardiac surgery with intermediate-high risk of transfusion: A randomized controlled trial.
To investigate whether large volume acute normovolemic hemodilution (L-ANH), compared with moderate acute normovolemic hemodilution (M-ANH), can reduce perioperative allogeneic blood transfusion in patients with intermediate-high risk of transfusion during cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). ⋯ Compared with M-ANH, L-ANH during cardiac surgery inclined to be associated with reduced perioperative RBC transfusion and the volume of RBC transfusion was inversely proportional to the volume of ANH. In addition, LANH during cardiac surgery was associated with a lower incidence of postoperative excessive bleeding.
