The analgesic efficiency of pregabalin for the treatment of postoperative pain in total hip arthroplasty: A randomized controlled study protocol.
Only few studies have yet investigated whether perioperative administration of pregabalin can reduce the incidence of postoperative chronic neuropathic pain after total hip arthroplasty (THA). This prospective, randomized study compared placebo with pregabalin in the hope that a lower pregabalin dose would improve analgesia without increasing side-effects after THA. ⋯ The null hypothesis of this study was that pregabalin would reduce pain after THA.

Augmented reality and artificial intelligence-based navigation during percutaneous vertebroplasty: a pilot randomised clinical trial.
To assess technical feasibility, accuracy, safety and patient radiation exposure of a novel navigational tool integrating augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI), during percutaneous vertebroplasty of patients with vertebral compression fractures (VCFs). ⋯ AR/AI-guided percutaneous vertebroplasty appears feasible, accurate and safe, and facilitates lower patient radiation exposure compared to standard fluoroscopic guidance. These slides can be retrieved under Electronic Supplementary Material.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
A multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-parallel controlled trial for the efficacy and safety of shenfuqiangxin pills in the treatment of chronic heart failure (Heart-Kidney yang deficiency syndrome).
Heart failure (HF) is the final stage of various cardiac diseases with poor prognosis. The integrated traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and western medicine therapy has been considered as a prospective therapeutic strategy for chronic heart failure (CHF). There have been small clinical trials and experimental studies to demonstrate the efficacy of Shenfu Qiangxin Pills (SFQX) for treating CHF, however, there is still a lack of further high-quality trial. This paper describes the protocol for the clinical assessment of SFQX in CHF (heart-kidney Yang deficiency syndrome) patients. ⋯ The integrated TCM and western medicine therapy has developed into a treatment model in China. The rigorous design of the trial will assure an objective and scientific assessment of the efficacy and safety of SFQX in the treatment of CHF.

Randomized Controlled TrialVirtual Reality during Pediatric Vascular Access: A Pragmatic, Prospective Randomized, Controlled Trial.
Vascular access is a minor procedure that is associated with reported pain and fear in pediatric patients, often resulting in procedural incompliance. Virtual reality has been shown to be effective in adult populations for reducing pain and anxiety in various medical settings, although large studies are lacking in pediatrics. ⋯ This study demonstrates no reduction in pain while using Virtual reality (VR) across a heterogeneous pediatric inpatient population undergoing vascular access.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyPain at Multiple Sites Is Associated With Prevalent and Incident Fractures in Older Adults.
Musculoskeletal pain is common and typically occurs at multiple sites. Pain has been shown to be associated with falls risk; however, whether an increased risk for falls associated with multisite pain (MSP) translates into an increased risk of fractures has not been investigated. This study aimed to examine the association of number of painful sites with prevalent and incident fractures. ⋯ These associations remained statistically significant after further adjustment for falls risk and BMD. Pain at multiple sites was associated with incident fracture risk in a dose-response manner, suggesting that widespread pain is an independent contributor to fracture risk. The potential for pain management in fracture prevention warrants further exploration. © 2019 American Society for Bone and Mineral Research.
