Case Reports
Tuberculous aortitis, ruptured 48 years after therapeutic implantation of synthetic balls.
A case of tuberculous aortitis, ruptured 48 years after an implantation of synthetic balls into the extrapleural space was reported. Those balls were implanted as a therapeutic alternative to artificial pneumothorax for treating pulmonary tuberculosis. Free perforation was triggered by debridement of an expanding cold abscess. A tuberculous abscess adjacent to the arterial wall should be carefully managed even in the absence of the blood flow by image analysis.

Case ReportsDelayed aortic rupture caused by an implanted anterior spinal device. Case report.
The authors describe a case of delayed aortic rupture following the application of a smooth-rod Kaneda (SRK) instrument. This is a rare but critical complication of anterior spinal fusion in which instrumentation is placed, and the authors wish to draw attention to the possible complications arising from such surgery. A few cases of this complication were reported in 1986. ⋯ Delayed aortic rupture associated with anterior instrumentation is extremely rare but can occur. Even if the design of the implants can be improved, the placement of implants near the aorta and subsequent changes in the close anatomical relationship between the aorta and the implant eventually may result in this life-threatening complication. Careful follow-up examination and early removal of the implant, if necessary, are important.

Case ReportsImpending rupture in an aortic arch aneurysm by Candida infection.
A 68-year-old man was hospitalized with the complaints of left back pain and fever. He had a history of using steroids to treat uveitis for about thirty years. ⋯ The patient was discharged at 120 days after surgery without recrudescence of the candida. To our knowledge, this is the fifteenth case of a successfully treated aneurysm caused by candida infection.
