Clinical efficacy of different shoulder joint drug injections for rotator cuff injuries: A network meta-analysis.
Rotator cuff injury is a common clinical disorder of the musculoskeletal system. It is one of the most common causes of shoulder pain and shoulder joint dysfunction. Intra-articular injection therapy is one of the common conservative treatments for rotator cuff injury in clinical practice, but scholars have been controversial about the different drugs used for injection therapy and their clinical effectiveness, and there is no complete agreement on the choice of different injectables, and the existing original studies are mostly direct comparisons in 1 arm, lacking indirect comparisons, making it difficult to have a clear and comprehensive understanding. ⋯ we recommend that corticosteroid injections combined with hyaluronic acid injections can be used for the non-surgical conservative clinical management of rotator cuff injuries.

Avellis syndrome with ipsilateral prosopalgia, glossopharyngeal neuralgia, and central post-stroke pain: A case report and literature review.
Avellis syndrome is a rare bulbar syndrome. The main lesions may involve nucleus ambiguus and the lateral spinothalamic tract. The typical reported clinical manifestations are hoarseness, dysphagia, pain, and temperature disturbance of contralateral body. The manifestations, however, may vary. We aim to report new manifestations of Avellis syndrome in this report. ⋯ We reported a case of Avellis syndrome who manifested as the typical reported manifestations. The patient, what's more, presented with ipsilateral trigeminal, glossopharyngeal neuralgia, and central poststroke pain which were described for the first time. It is of great significance for clinicians to recognize the typical as well as other manifestations which helps to make a clear diagnosis.

This study aimed to investigate the short-term effectiveness of scapular focused taping (SFT) on scapular position and kinematics during the tennis serve among professional players with and without shoulder pain. The cohort included 7 players who had no history of non-shoulder pain (NSP) and 6 players with shoulder pain (SP). All participants performed tennis flat serves while the Qualisys motion capture system recorded three-dimensional scapular kinematic data according to the International Society of Biomechanics recommendations. ⋯ SFT had a positive immediate effect on the scapular posterior tilting and external rotation during certain phases of the tennis serve among tennis athletes with and without shoulder pain. These findings may help clinicians and sports practitioners to prevent and rehabilitate shoulder injuries for overhead athletes. Level of evidence: Level III; Case-Control Design; Comparative Study.

The study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between fibromyalgia (FM) disease and depression, anxiety, anxiety sensitivity, fear-avoidance beliefs, and quality of life in female patients with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia. 37 female patients followed up with FM diagnosis in pain medicine clinic and a control group consisting of 37 healthy women were included in the study. Sociodemographic and Clinical Characteristics Data Form, Quality of Life Form, fear-avoidance beliefs questionnaire, Anxiety Sensitivity Index-3, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Beck Depression Inventory, and Visual Analogue Scale was applied to the participants. When the patients in the FM group were compared to the control group; Statistically lower scores in all Quality of Life Form subscales except emotional role difficulty and social functionality scores; statistically higher scores in both physical and work activity subscales in fear-avoidance beliefs questionnaire; statistically higher scores in cognitive symptoms subscale in Anxiety Sensitivity Index-3, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Beck Depression Inventory, and Visual Analogue Scale scores were found. ⋯ It was determined that the functionality and quality of life of patients diagnosed with FM decreased in daily life. An important contribution of the study to the literature is that it shows that the behavior of avoiding activity due to pain-induced fear exacerbates the pain and even contributes to its chronicity. These results, which show the effects of anxiety, depression, anxiety sensitivity, and fear-avoidance behavior on the prognosis of the disease in FM patients, indicate that psychiatric evaluation and treatment in FM patients is an important factor that determines the functionality and quality of life.

Regional block anesthesia for adult patients with inguinal hernia repair: A systematic review.
Inguinal hernia repair (IHR) is a common surgical technique performed under regional block anesthesia (RBA). Although previous clinical trials have explored the effectiveness and safety of RBA for IHR, no systematic review has investigated its effectiveness and safety in adult patients with IHR. ⋯ The results of this study demonstrated that IHR patients with RBA benefit more from post-surgery pain relief at 24h and a decrease in the ORUCR than those with CSA.
