[Postoperative pain therapy after laparoscopic cholecystectomy: paracetamol versus diclofenac].
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the first treatment choice for symptomatic gallstone disease. We compared the efficacy of intravenous (i.v.) paracetamol and intramuscular (i.m.) diclofenac Na(+) after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. ⋯ We recommend the use of i.v. Paracetamol as an opioid adjuvant. Regarding its use as a unique drug for postoperative pain therapy, further comparative studies with higher doses of paracetamol are needed.

Combined analgesic regimens produce sufficient analgesia by additive or synergistic effects, and reduce the total dose of analgesics and minimise adverse effects. We investigated the metamizole, paracetamol and morphine combination with respect to postoperative pain treatment in lumbar disc surgery. ⋯ Addition of metamizole to paracetamol along with iv morphine PCA offers an advantage over single iv morphine PCA and paracetamol, with respect to early postoperative pain treatment and patient satisfaction.

To determine the risk: benefit of paracetamol combined with caffeine in the short-term management of acute pain conditions. ⋯ Paracetamol/caffeine (1,000 mg/130 mg) is effective and safe for use in acute management of pain. The hepatotoxicity of overdoses of paracetamol results from its oxidative metabolism, caffeine does not produce any increase in oxidative metabolism of therapeutic concentrations of paracetamol.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyA single-tablet fixed-dose combination of racemic ibuprofen/paracetamol in the management of moderate to severe postoperative dental pain in adult and adolescent patients: a multicenter, two-stage, randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled, factorial study.
The combination of ibuprofen and paracetamol may confer analgesic benefits over monotherapy with either agent. In a previous study, an ibuprofen/paracetamol combination provided significantly better analgesic efficacy than comparable doses of ibuprofen or paracetamol alone in patients experiencing moderate to severe acute postoperative pain after extraction of impacted third molars. ⋯ FDC ibuprofen 200 mg/paracetamol 500 mg and ibuprofen 400 mg/paracetamol 1000 mg were significantly more effective in this population than were comparable doses of ibuprofen or paracetamol alone in moderate to severe acute dental pain and were significantly more effective than placebo in providing sustained pain relief.
