Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of antipyretic effectiveness of equal doses of rectal and oral acetaminophen in children.
To compare a dose of oral and rectal acetaminophen and to evaluate acceptability of rectal acetaminophen, since oral and rectal acetaminophen is widely used as an antipyretic agent in febrile children and the comparative effectiveness of these two preparations is not well established. ⋯ Rectal and oral acetaminophen preparations have equal antipyretic effectiveness in children. The rectal route proved to be as acceptable as the oral one among parents.

A randomized, placebo-controlled trial of acetaminophen for treatment of migraine headache.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of acetaminophen 1000 mg for the treatment of episodic migraine headache. ⋯ Acetaminophen 1000 mg, a nonprescription drug, is an effective and well-tolerated treatment for episodic and moderate migraine headache. In addition, acetaminophen generally provided a beneficial effect on associated symptoms of migraine including nausea, photophobia, phonophobia, and functional disability.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of the analgesic efficacy of concurrent ibuprofen and paracetamol with ibuprofen or paracetamol alone in the management of moderate to severe acute postoperative dental pain in adolescents and adults: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, single-dose, two-center, modified factorial study.
Combination analgesics may offer improved analgesic efficacy, particularly for moderate to severe pain. ⋯ Concurrent ibuprofen and paracetamol appeared to provide significantly better analgesic efficacy compared with ibuprofen or paracetamol alone for acute postoperative dental pain in these adolescents and adults.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyFentanyl sparing effects of combined ketorolac and acetaminophen for outpatient inguinal hernia repair in children.
In this prospective, randomized, double-blinded study we sought to evaluate the efficacy and safety of combined use of intravenous ketorolac and acetaminophen in small children undergoing outpatient inguinal hernia repair. ⋯ Preoperative intravenous coadministration of ketorolac and acetaminophen is a simple, safe and effective method for relieving postoperative pain, and demonstrates highly significant fentanyl sparing effects in small children after outpatient inguinal hernia repair.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyRandomized comparison of efficacy of paracetamol, lornoxicam, and tramadol representing three different groups of analgesics for pain control in extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy.
Extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (SWL) is the mainstay treatment modality for upper urinary tract stones. However, it is a relatively painful procedure and so an efficient analgesia is required for better clinical success. The ideal method of anesthesia has not been standardized. The objective of this randomized study, for the first time in the literature, was to compare the efficacy of three common analgesics, each belonging to a different group, in pain control during SWL. ⋯ This study suggests that paracetamol, lornoxicam, and tramadol can be safely and efficiently preferred in pain control during SWL.
