There are limited data supporting or opposing the use of infrapopliteal peripheral vascular interventions (PVI) for the treatment of claudication. ⋯ Infrapopliteal PVI is associated with worse long-term outcomes than femoropopliteal PVI for claudication. These risks should be discussed with patients.

Radiation therapy is a clinically proven, localized preventive measure for heterotopic ossification (HO). Despite its efficacy, there is a lack of standardization of radiation prescription dosing and fractionation, and the mechanism of the impact of radiation in HO prevention remains unknown. ⋯ In-depth single-cell transcriptomic analyses, in combination with immunofluorescent staining, demonstrate decreased cellular numbers as well as aberrant endochondral differentiation and downregulation of associated upstream signaling pathways in irradiated mesenchymal progenitor cells. Our study provides the framework for future mechanistic and clinically relevant studies exploring radiation efficacy in preventing HO formation.

Review Meta AnalysisFactors Affecting Mortality in Critically Ill Patients With Tuberculosis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Critically ill patients with tuberculosis carry high mortality. Identification of factors associated with mortality in critically ill tuberculosis patients may enable focused treatment. ⋯ Patient age, platelet count, albumin and CRP levels, the requirement and duration of invasive mechanical ventilation, Pa o2 /F io2 ratio, hospital-acquired infections, renal replacement therapy, and ICU LOS were variables associated with mortality.

Impact of Preoperative Aripiprazole on Postoperative Analgesia in Laparoscopic Hysterectomy: A Randomized Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Trial.
Aripiprazole is a second-generation atypical antipsychotic with worldwide clinical approval. Nevertheless, its perioperative antinociceptive application has not been studied. As a result, the purpose of this study was to investigate the analgesic effects of perioperative aripiprazole on reducing postoperative pain, as well as the possible adverse effects. ⋯ Aripiprazole was effective in reducing pain after laparoscopic hysterectomy. Although self-limited, side effects should be taken into consideration when using the medication perioperatively.
